Ivermectin for Prostate Cancer? (Being studied)

Posted by tvz @tvz, Apr 7, 2024

I am 54 and have Gleason 3+4 in 8% of one lobe. My PSA rose from 8.1 to 9.6 in the past 6 months. I’ve heard Ivermectin has potential to slow growth of cancer cells. Has anyone tried IVM or any other medication that has been shown to slow growth?

My own PSA rose from 7.9 in October '24 to 10.5 in January '25. I'm worried; looks like mine is more aggressive than yours (8.1 to 9.6 in six months), mentioned in tvz 2014 post.
My primary care physician referred me to a urologist who took biopsy specimens on Feb 14, 2025; tests result is a Gleason score of 7 (3+4). The uro has referred me to an oncologist, who will see me for my initial consultation next week.
I am hoping for the best, that the oncologist can help/lead me to the right treatment. Those of you in this support group, who also had a Gleason score of 7 (3+4), care to share your journey?

Just information that made sense to me: Some Med Schools like MD Anderson have Urologic Oncology Fellowships. I know that some of the doctors at Mayo Rochester and Phoenix have been through this additional training. Even if referred to a Oncologist, I prefer a Urologist that has this additional training and insight as a backstop.
