Can PMR (Polymyalgia Rheumatica) be induced by vaccine?
Good evening, I’ve recently been diagnosed with PMR. It came on a week after my flu shot October 23, 2020.
Has anyone experienced the same diagnosis after a flu shot?

I think the fundamental question is how much do you want to avoid the thing the vaccination is supposed to help prevent. There are plenty of things that can trigger PMR that I did not manage to avoid, like stress and Lyme disease. A fear about causation without much evidence to support that fear is less of a concern for me.
Yes, I was first diagnosed with PMR shortly after my 2nd Covid vaccine.

I do think that my immune system was burdened by having both the flu vaccine and Covid vaccines while on prednisone for Osteoarthritis pain because I developed Shingles the next week. Having had both kinds of singles shots well be for that, and also a previous bout of shingles , it was surprising, but even more surprising was getting both GCA and PMR during my third week of shingles. Had never even heard of those before that. Now have had PMR more than two months. GCA symptoms come and go. The PMR is in full flare even with prednisone.
Well... I had both a flu vaccine and a pneumonia vaccine at the same time on 12/15/22. On 12/26/22 I went to the emergency room because of severe overall stiffness and pain, could barely walk. They admitted me to the neurological department and after 80 some test sent me home in a walker without a resolution. A few weeks later I was diagnosed with PMR and have been on various dosages of Prednisone since. Recently was prescribed Kevzara but awaiting insurance approval. Barely a sick day my entire life prior to 12/26/22 so one can draw their own conclusion.
Wow
Sorry to hear it - the Medical community needs to get a handle on what is causing PMR -
The Prednisone is helping me a lot - I only have a little bit of soreness in the wrists now.
My shoulder pain is complicated by the fact that I tore tow tendons in left shoulder about 9 months before the vaccinations and PMR onset in 11/24
I have no proof but I feel 100% sure in my gut that the PMR was caused by one/both of the Covid and flu vaccines I received from Walgreens on 11/13/24
Best to you

I am not a conspiracy theorist. I never in a million years would have thought I had anything in common with an anti-vaxxer.
I received a Covid vaccine early in January of 2021 because was a firefighter/first responder (until last month retired after 22.5 years) - AND I was EXTREMELY grateful to get it at that scary time.
However, when I got both a flu vaccine and a covid vaccine on 11/13/24 I developed severe pain throughout my body within about 5 or six days. I was such a believer in vaccines that I did not even suspect them.
I thought maybe I had Lymes disease. It took 10 weeks of extreme pain before doctors finally diagnosed me with PMR.
Once I was diagnosed with PMR - Prednisone helped me in a way no medication has ever helped previously. Before the Prednisone, I basically started thinking my life was over.
I began doing research to find out what PMR was and where it came from and I found scientific research articles making a possible connection between the Flu vaccine and PMR onset. That is when a lightbulb went off in my head and I remembered the vaccines I had received shortly before the onset of my pain.
I am not quite sure what your point is or who you are telling to get a grip. How can I prove that my PMR was caused by the vaccines? I do not know. All I know is that I have never felt anything like this disease before. I was 70 years old when it came on. I am in good condition and exercise regularly.
As far as I know the mechanics of PMR are not well understood by the medical community, but it seems to me to have some very distinct indicators - mainly the severe pain in both shoulders and both hips.
My gut is telling me that my PMR was 100% caused by the vaccines and someday I hope the medical community knows more about it to prevent this painful disease in the future.
I am not suddenly a rabid anti-vaxxer, but I realize now that my absolute bias against them was taken from a position of ignorance. 10 weeks of absolute pain and agony gave me a much different viewpoint. There are many persons out there that have been horribly harmed by vaccines. Otherwise there would not be a VICP program.

Vaccines are evaluated by a criteria that "the overall health benefits" to the vaccinated compare favorably to the non-vaccinated. There are inherent risks associated with all vaccines. It would be impossible to guarantee that no harm will be caused to all individuals that get a vaccine. No vaccine is perfectly safe.
As crazy as it sounds ... I sometimes have adverse effects after vaccines. For this reason, I sometimes refuse a vaccine but not always. I'm not an all or none type of person with respect to vaccines. No rhyme nor reason for which vaccine I get and which vaccine I refuse. 🤔
We shouldn't have to explain that we are not "anti-vaxxers". The adjuvants in vaccines - the ingredient that is added to force our body to have a strong immune response to the vaccine to increase immunity - can sometimes cause a snowball immune over-reaction, an auto-immune response. The statement that vaccines are "safe and effective" is not true for everyone.
Vaccines did not cause my PMR, but people who developed sudden onset PMR within a couple of weeks of having a vaccine in my view have good reason to believe the vaccine or its adjuvants may have provoked PMR. There has been plenty written about it in medical journals.
