Waking up at 3 am

What do you do when you wake up at 3 am and can't easily get back to sleep? You only have 2-3 more hours until you want to get up, so taking medications isn't a great idea because then you will oversleep.

Hi,

In chinese medicine, certain organs begin to wake up at 0200- 0300. I do more acupuncture than western medicine as there ar emore cures, with less side effects. Before my head injury, this would happen to me and acupuncture was the answer. It's also related to circadian rhythms.

Now, mind. It's not a one and done deal. (SAve that for the bad boy friend) You may have to go several times for your long lasting solution.

That’s good to know. I wish I had more in my budget for acupuncture. Last week I slept a full 8 with no awakening! Thrilled! It happens so seldom.

Whether it’s trying to fall asleep or fall back to sleep I am learning-at age 84- to stop trying so hard. Actually to just let go. Don’t judge. Just accept.

I’m trying. Want to get up and do something productive but too exhausted. “Sleep Hygiene” is a joke and only adds to frustration. Reading in bed makes me sleepy. Occasional Rx pill can break the insomnia cycle for a while.

I've always had trouble sleeping while my husband sleeps ALL night. I wake at 3 am and so often just lay there and suffer
I do take natural sleep helps and once in awhile I actually sleep ALL night
