Irregular heart beat
Hi, over the past couple of years my heart goes out of rhythm for no reason, I could be just say down doing nothing and it goes out of rhythm and increase to over 150 bpm. Been to hospital, blood tests all ok. Put on medication to reduce heart beat but heart still out of rhythm. It only seems to go back to normal given time. Doctors are at a loss as to what starts it in the first place. All suggestions and similar situations greatly appreciated.

My thoughts exactly, something must trigger it off. I have seen ER doctors and on one occasion a heart specialist! Think I need to get a second opinion.... I've done nothing to my knowledge on each occasion similar that I can identify that could possibly trigger it, unless I'm missing something 🤔
I don't like tea, but does the tea you are drinking contain caffeine??
I am on a blood thinner and a beta blocker now before I was diagnosed if I had a large dose of cortisone or even a prescription strength Advil my heart would beat so fast. Many things food and situations and medications can make your heart beat rapidly in my experience. So now that I'm on eliquis a blood thinner I'm not allowed to take aspirin or ibuprofen I can only take Tylenol if I have a headache. Some people are very sensitive to some things and I'm finding out that that I am one of those people and I'm especially sensitive to medications and to situations in my life which would cause anxiety or depression...
Just a little tweak about Eliquis (apixaban) and taking Advil/ibuprofen, the advice and caution about mixing those two is indeed advisable, and most ethical to tell the patient, including when handing the patient the prescription by also handing a pamphlet about the drug and its possible dangers and side-effects. However, some of that caution can be tempered a bit with more dialog between the patient and the prescribing authority. I'm NOT suggesting you do what I, and some other apixaban takers do, not without consulting your EP or cardiologist, but some of us do take Advil or Aleve...SPARINGLY...and always with food, when the need is greatest, even though we are on apixaban. The reason is that some patients have poor liver function that acetaminophen exacerbates, or that it simply does a much poorer job of controlling their pain than does ibuprofen. In discussion, your physician may agree that you can try it to see how you do. You do want to avoid stomach bleeds, that's for sure. But, if you are a generally anxious person, poor sleep, in pain, and you have a heart condition, the previous points are not good for you.
Again, I'm not qualified to advise you, certainly not against good medical care by a qualified person. However, there is often some wiggle room, and one must do a cost/benefit analysis. A good doctor will have some leeway about prescriptions and how, and when, their patients should use them.
Yes it does, suppose I need to drink the decaf version
I am far more conscious of what I eat and drink these days, and am constantly looking out for a reaction to what I've consumed, hoping to make a connection. As yet to no avail. At present the medical advice is to be on beta blockers. I do have an underactive thyroid and take levothyroxin, but the doctors are adamant that there is no connection .
I don't know about tea, but decaf coffee still has caffeine in it. It affects me.
This is what Dr Google says. Common levothyroxine side effects include heat intolerance, a fast heart rate, and diarrhea. Weight loss and hair changes are also possible.
I've had doctors tell me there is no connection to this and that med. That is not what others who are taking it say. I also have an underactive thyroid. Way low. But do not take anything for it. I took a homeopathic med for thyroid that the doc claimed I would have no problem. Not true. I did make the mistake of not weaning myself off it and lost tons of hair. When I read that my hair loss was because of my thyroid, I got some more meds and the hair loss stopped immediately. Then, I WEANED myself off it, and had no problem.
Google the side effects of beta blockers. And are you drinking water? It can affect heart beat if you are not drinking enough. I am still not getting 8 cups down but more than I did most of my life. It made a difference for me.
My husband has been in AFib for two weeks. Texted RNP who gave advice re if the pulse is higher than 150 and if BP rises. It hasn’t. We can’t see the Cardiologist until late March- 6+ weeks. He’s on metropolol and upped it to 50mg. At what point should we go to a local doctor the ER?
I'd be going pretty soon with a heart beat that high.
