Hi people (Smiley face) Wow, I have just found this site and so thankful for it. I am getting on in years now (Not a smiley face) and my problem started over 60 years ago. Whether it be Winter or Summer my legs always had a mottled look to them. I just accepted this and did nothing about it, ever. Then, in 2008 I had a heart attack. I ended up having to have a quadruple heart bypass. After the surgery the surgeon asked my husband why we had not told him beforehand that I had this blood disease. We had no idea what he was talking about. It turns out that when they put me on the CABG machine, my blood just went into a big clot. He said I have Cold Agglutinin Disease. What a shock. After recovery from the surgery they sent me to see an oncologist. A cancer Doctor.....Why. But thankfully after tests I was told I was cancer free. That was the end of any further treatment. Now, 17 years later, the mottling in my legs and now also my arms has got progressively worse. They go a dark shade of mauve. Other symptoms have also developed, the ends of my fingers go freezing cold and numb and hurt very much. My ears go almost black. So, early this year I decided I needed to get some help and requested to see a haemotologist. After having lots of blood tests done, the latest a week ago when they took 15 phials, they have decided to do a Bone Marrow Biopsy. I am having this done.....today 12th Feb. Well that's my story. As of yet I know it won't help any others until I get some results, but I would very much like to get to know you people and offer an support that I can. I look forward to any response.
