Discovered cancer spot on my lung after covid-19

Thank you for thinking of me...yes I had the one radiation treatment earlier this month. Now it's a waiting game for 3 months, at the end of January I have another scan and on the 3rd of February I talk to the doctor to receive the results. All I can do is hope for the best.
It's a long time to wonder...

I had my radiation treatment three months ago and had a fresh scan to obtain the results...the doctor says the treatment came back completely clear. Yeah!!! I now in another three months receive another scan to make sure it's gone. Then every six months to keep an eye on it. this Doctor and his Staff really gave me every courtesy and attention to make me feel they cared.
Kudos to the Cleveland Clinic.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer (non-small cell adenocarcinoma ) in June 2024. Let me emphasize that I’m a believer in science. I am definitely not in the anti-vaccine camp. That said, my first symptoms (hot flashes) occurred about two-three weeks after my first COVID vaccine. Then sometimes crippling fatigue. I’d just have to lie down to nap (and I’d never been a napper.) These symptoms lasted maybe a year or two before I lost my voice. That was when an ENT doctor discovered a mass in my neck. Turned out to be one of about 12 cancerous spots (nodules). I don’t know… could the vaccine have “turned off” our T cells or whatever immune system we have to fight cancer?? Just something to consider because I know of so many others who’ve been diagnosed with cancer recently. Total transparency: I smoked for many years but haven’t had a cigarette in over 27 years.

I had difficulty breathing too. The biopsy on my lung was negative but the PET scan said the nodule on my lung was cancerous. My surgeon believed the PET scan. I had the nodule removed and it was a stage 1 cancer. I am so grateful my surgeon removed the cancer. I am slowly healing but having difficulty with pain in my abdomen from the robotic procedure. I am 8 weeks out.

I also have SOB and am a smoker for too many years. My SOB started when I contracted the Covid roughly two years ago, that's how they found my cancer spot on the right lung. The surgeon recommended surgery, but the Radiation specialist said he could stop it with one treatment...He was correct, three months later my CT Scan was clear with no side effects. I hope you get thru this healing process very quickly and always remember, You Are In My PRAYERS. May GOD watch over you.

Welcome to Mayo Connect Claudia, @claudiaharlan12. That's great that you and your surgeon listened to his/her intuition. We depend on the results of these tests, like the biopsy. Your case is a good reminder that things aren't always straight forward. I hope you continue to heal. Give your body the time it needs, as it sounds like you've come a long way already.

I too went to my PCP over some shortness of breath. After CT Scan a golf ball size tumor was found in my right lung. Adnocarcinoma. It hasn’t spread to lymph nodes. My care team offered targeted radiation and surgery. Since my thoracic surgeon says there are too more tiny tumors; he has suggested a lobectomy. I’m scared to death.
