Someone told me when you shower not to make the water too hot for some reason And to leave the door cracked to allow air to flow in and Out.
I also have a shower chair, a leftover from hip fracture recovery of a few months ago. I love (or used to) a shower as hot as I could stand it, but now find that I've got to accept not-so-hot water, as the steam shortens my breath.
Do you use your supplemental O2 while showering? That’s very important. You can have tubing go over the curtain or door. Showering is exertion and you need to use it if your saturations are not above 90% while showering.
Have heard using an absorbent fluffy bathrobe when you get out of shower reduces need for frying as well.
If you wash your hair, consider doing that separately while seated at a sink to reduce showering time and break tasks into smaller chunks.
thanks to you and cap'njack for the help I never knew steam was detrimental to breathing
It is exhausting . I also have a new symptom with showering . I keep the water as cool as possible . I bought a new “ rain” shower head . Tried it yesterday . Today my skin is peeling profusely. I thought the other shower head was maybe too strong a flow for my skin . My skin is peeling all over now again. I don’t know. I have used skin crème . Ointments . Etc. It still peels after I apply . This one has me puzzled.
Is your skin reacting to the lotion or skin crème? Maybe to the soap you’re using? Often peeling is related to something topical that may be new or different. Maybe have a gentle hand-held shower head?
Add glycerin and vitamin E oil to a good lotion or cream and that should help your skin from peeling too much.
I too peel all the time
My skin has always been dry, but the peeling is worse in the last few months....... really it's enormous flakes so i don't know if i's exactly what you all are talking about. I mix my favorite lotion with vaseline. 1/2 and 1/2. It's greasy, but it keeps things under control for a day or two at a time. Showers are hard and my husband stands by because of my dizziness, so i only take one or sometimes two a week, i reapply the above ointment when i change clothes daily.
I should have said that on non shower days i use baby wipes and deoderant on all the "potent" places. LOL
Are you drinking enough water? My dry skin directly correlates to the amount of water I drink. Also affects my fatigue levels.
