7% or 3% saline nebulizing solution?

I have idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. I've been nebulizing twice a day with 7% for about four years. It's possibly irritating my throat. I can switch to 3%. But will it be effective enough to help clear my lungs?

@robtlhughes The 3% will probably work fine - the 7% is recommended because it is better at inhibiting some germs like mycobacteria. Some people in the bronchiectasis group mix the 7% with 3% to make it less harsh.
Do you do airway clearance as well?

Yes, thanks. I nebulize albuterol 0.083 once or twice a day too. So far, so good. Thanks again.

I have Bronchiectasis and use the 3% quite often..it can irritate my throat, so I’m sure the 7% would be worse. I would try mixing the 3 and 7% and lean your body over the edge of your bed(postural drainage) This works for me.

I have tried this higher level but its just too drying so I stick with 3% which works fine.

Postural drainage works really well! Even better if you have someone that can do chest percussion.... Aerobika can be really helpful as well!
