Today’s sunrise in Wyoming. It was beautiful and I saw a sign of hope. If you look closely you’ll see it too.

Right now in sunny, not so warm Florida, I have pics of our crazy snowfall. First since 1989! My favorite is of a cute REAL snowman out on the beach. Snow is disappearing but the roads are still slippery 2 days later. Being from the far north, 3 inches of snow is nothing. But down here in FL, everything came to a halt.

WOW! That is fantastic... What a marvelous sight, and sunrise is the perfect way to begin this day, this year! I think I'd frame that picture and hang it in a very special place where I and all begin our days seeing this vision of hope and glory.

@loribmt, and all... Well, my dear Lori, welcome to my part of the world. This is truly cold for us. I awoke at sunrise in Jacksonville, Florida, on that snowy day in 1989... Looked out the sliding doors and everything in my back yard was covered in white! My cars were covered, my furniture and the trees and shrubs all covered in beautiful, soft white snow... and it was real snow! Not an everyday nor every lifetime experience for an almost native Floridian. Glorious. Fun. Exciting. But, we also had serious ice issues that closed all our bridges over the wide St. Johns River flowing though our city from the Atlantic through the center of Florida.

Lives stopped abruptly. Closed bridges. Closed streets. Closed businesses. Closed schools. Closed downtown... We have no ice or snow clearing equipment nor plans. It's not in our DNA. We don't know how to drive in these conditions... sand, yes. Snow and ice, no.

Jacksonville today had some ice this morning, after several days of rain, but no snow in my south Jax area. Westside and Northside may have seen a touch... but it is terrifically cold, biting, wet cold that goes through the body like crazy. I have a warm therapy pool appointment this afternoon that will help so much with so much... But, I hate to get to my car and drive at all. These are days to hunker down and enjoy my little bubble in my condo. '

I had several Mayo doctor appointments this week that we changed to video so I didn't have to get out. Thankfully they didn't require on site visits, but next week I'll be on the Mayo campus every single day for something. It'll be cold, but not like this.

January, February are our coldest months. But, in late February most years you'll enjoy blooms popping out and color, beauty speaking to you. So glad you're in Florida. Enjoy. I'd love to see pictures now of your lake and birds and beauty from northern vibes.

Hi Elizabeth! We didn’t make it home to Wisconsin for the holidays this year so I guess this is Mother Nature’s way of letting me experience winter down here! I don’t want that getting out otherwise there’s going to be a lot of people angry at me for being the cause of all this snow and curfuffle! 😂

We’re usually down here from late October until right before Christmas when we head home. We return the end of January. So we are familiar with the chilly weather that can be found in the panhandle. But this was unexpected for sure! As northerners were pretty used to coping with huge amounts of snow. So it was really a shock with 3 inches to see how everything was hugely impacted. There were still some bridges closed yet today and a large section of Interstate 10 across the panhandle. Back home, that would be considered good winter driving conditions. 😂

Glad to see you’re doing well and I’m glad you didn’t need to head out for doctor’s appointments in the snow. You’d need a dog sled! ☺️ Hugs to you, my friend! Lori.

Red Bellied Woodpecker stopped by for a quick snack

Thanks for sharing that picture. I have never seen a woodpecker (that I know of)...unless you count
Woody Woodpecker. 😀
But your woodpecker doesn't look anything like Woody, so I guess I'll have to update my mental images of woodpeckers.
So, I'm glad to have been able to experience a REAL woodpecker through your picture. I'll have to keep an eye out for them. Thanks, again!

@johnbishop and all... Oh, how lovely! John, I do miss my precious feathered friends... since I'm upstairs isolated in my bedroom and small kitchen, I no longer have my fiends visiting. I've not been able to maintain my feeders so all my buddies must find food elsewhere. I hate that! Truly, feel guilty not keeping them food. And miss the joys they bring. Thanks for sharing your beauty!
