Can someone addicted to meth recover and become sober? Worried father
My son has been meth Addiction. My son was always nice and honor student when he was child. I found out he was taking meth 8 years ago ( maybe more before) He is 30's now. He has been homeless. He sometimes in jail too. He was sent a nice rehab. He relapsed as soon as he got out rehab. We are told we can't help him unless he decides to quit. Several months ago he told me he decided to quit. I called off my job and helped him a lot. But he relapsed again. Then he has been homeless again. We don't know where he is now.
Do someone know some person who recovered and sobor from severe meth addiction ? If you know, could you please share your story for me ? I am very sad and suffered this situation.

My insight is to do research on the intentional harm done by purdue pharma for profit. Very helpful for me. Let go let God is very powerful. I am a person of action planning goal achievement but it seems our society is consumed with controlling others and things we cannot. I am sorry drug use has taken over your loved ones life. Take care of you . It seems now that is your highest priority
You can absolutely survive meth addiction I am 10 years sober from stimulants and 6 from alcohol. I did it alone and have become a recovery coach since. I started at a young age due to having an eating disorder and finding a parents drugs. I find there are two types of addiction one where your addicted to the drug and the other where your taking the drug to mask the feeling or trauma you have or are experiencing. Depending on what type is how you can treat the addiction or substance consumption. Does he struggle with depression or anxiety maybe is an adult with adhd or add that went untreated. There are many reasons why we start and those reasons will give us the answer to his treatment. Reach out anytime!
When we found out his severe addiction from meth, his public defender and a police officer told us our son is not only drug but also something mental issue.
We didn't want to think it. We blamed drug for his strange behaviors.
We took him to a psychiatrist and told the doctor whole story about him. Then my son started taking aripiprazole 5mg. This was 8years ago. He became very normal, and he quit drug ( we believed ) But later we found out he was doing again. We couldn't live with him anymore because our HOA gave us a warning with a lawyer and ask us to remove him, or we would have to move out. Since then, we can't help him. Then he has been sober house, jail or street. We found that my son was a depression decease more than 8 years ago. He never told us anything. The doctor told him to stay hospital and get treatment, but he turned down doctor's offer because he doesn't lose his job. He loved his job and he didn't want to lose his job. We have to realize he has mental illness now. We should have encouraged him to stay hospital. He was a hard worker. Now, sobor house managers and social agencies told us they can't force him to take medicine. This made us hopeless. We have been thinking all the time about his drug addiction was caused from his mental illness or drug made him mental issues. Then now, we feel so bad and sad because we can't accept living with him. When I go to bed, I think my son may be in street now with dirty clothe,,,,I feel so much guilty. I can't sleep. If he was mental illness originally, I should help him. But We may be homeless if we accept him to move in our house. If he is a little kid, we can control. But he is an adult . we can't control him . We can't watch him 24 hours. If he is just mental illness, his case is mild, he can live nicely with us. We can just make sure him to take a medicine everyday. But if he takes meth sneakily we will be trouble again.
That’s the problem is this is his choice, he has the choice to have a roof over his head but chooses not too. That is not your fault. However mental illness is just that no matter how bad it is. Maybe he needs to up his meds if they aren’t working for him maybe trying something else. Addiction isn’t easy to navigate but always keeping hope and know that tomorrow might be the day. Maybe finding other team members. Maybe therapy would help like talk or emdr.

I suffer for meth Addiction my heart goes out to you! My behavior and addiction not harm me, but also harmed my family and those who care about me a great deal . I invite you to go to Al-Anon. It’s for You care about us and families of Addiction. There is hope! According to the basic text of narcotics anonymous Addiction can be arrested. Yes, a desire To be clean Is very important. The I have been to treatment six times now I’m coming 90 days the Haven at Dallas Medical Center is very aggressive in helping people With meth Addiction, because of the fentanyl crisis, a lot of med today has fentanyl in it. I don’t say this to scare you. I say this because I believe from experience That some treatment centers place priority On heroin and Fentanyl addict this attitude does not help Meth addicts Thank God for places like the Haven and treatment centers like the serenity house in Abilene, Texas who taught me That not only going to treatment, but also going to partial hospitalization Immediately following the 30 days Of treatment and then stepping down to a next 30 days of intensive outpatient would increase substantially the odds of me staying sober and avoiding Statistically high relapse immediately following The first 30 days treatment. I thank you for reaching out because this is helping me too!
I also encourage you to read the chapter Working with others inthe “big book” of Alcoholics.Anonymous. Y’all are in my prayers. I hope you can find him soon. And hope that God is, I understand it can bring it back to recovery
🙏 Blessings
Ty ..I also pray 🙏 for your full recovery 🙏
