Any success stories anyone can share? I'm pre-transplant.
This probably isn't the right forum for success stories as this is for people looking for answers to their current issues, like myself in a different thread. I'm getting cold feet about proceeding with getting back on the trx list as is seems nobody survives liver trx for long afterwards. Are there any successes out there? I see a lot for heart and kidney but seems maybe liver is just to complicated to try to replace? Thanks, I need a pick me up. Kel

I thought the same thing. I actually cried and grieved over my donor on the operating table just before anesthesia. I was refusing my transplant offer for the same reasons as you are feeling. I was persuaded, actually begged by my family and doctors to accept that gift of life. I feel a very close connection to my donor. She is my hero and at some moment as she lived her life she thought of me and agreed to be an organ donor. I believe your donor and you are destined. The liver you will be offered IS meant for YOU and only you. I am coming up on my first year. I feel great and am used to the adjustments I needed to make. I take my meds in the morning and at night, eat fairly clean and am very active. Every time I have a milestone or a great moment to celebrate, it's like an encore for my hero's life too. God Bless and I'll start praying for you!!
It is a mentally and physically challenging disease. After the last ten years of the ups and downs and not even to transplant yet, I'm exhausted but keep going. Thanks for the uplifting response, it all helps. I appreciate your offer for prayers but I'm not religious. Keep up the good work on getting yourself back to normal....
Update: I used your encouragement to keep going and made an appt to go back to the Mayo in AZ. It's been six years since I had to leave for insurance issues. I got a call yesterday that my favorite hep doctor had a cancellation on Monday next week so I'll be heading to see him in less than a week. Feeling hopeful.
@azkellyw, I am thrilled to hear that you have received such a promising phone message.
