What happens after Tymlos?
I’m going to be finishing the 18 month course of Tymlos in April/May of this year. Endo is saying that I should follow that with Prolia (within weeks) and then Reclast.
Has anyone else followed that treatment plan or have any comments about it?
Thank you.

@katwhisperer My rheumatologist is suggesting the exact same thing. I am 64 and have longevity in my family. Prolia sounds like a life sentence with significant draw backs. Every time I press my rheumatologist on the downside of Prolia he downplays side effects entirely. Tells me I have a 20% chance of being wheel chair bound within 5 years and it’s just hard for me to believe. I’ve always had good conditioning; my main sin is that I am small and small women seem to be afflicted with this condition the most. Hoping an alternative comes up to Prolia before the end of Tymlos. I live in a medical black hole out here so there really isn’t a way to get a second opinion unless I am willing to travel extensively.
My doctor prescribes Reclast or Fosamax after Tymlos.
I too live in a medical black hole. I found great comfort and confidence with Keith Mccormick. Well worth the consultation fee. Sent in my blood work first. Also read his book Great Bone first so I could ask better educated questions.
Be aggressive with your Doctors. Get the tests,referrals, whatever you need so you feel good with YOUR decision. Best of luck.
@redlo I have a consult in two weeks with the Dr. Lucas team from a private organization. The consult is free but it looks like it may be a twelve month commitment that I may not be able to afford. I will indeed look into Keith McCormick; I have seen his name referenced here in this forum frequently. Thank you for the response. I’ve had other health issues, but this one has me in a panic. So happy I found this forum. Thanks again!
My tentative plan is Tymlos followed by Evista
I am familiar with Dr Lucas. I follow him too on utube. I did not want the 12 month commitment either. I highly recommend Keith's book Great Bone. Especially if you have other health issues. Very knowledgeable. Gives different options for people with different ailments. 🙏
@redlo I have seen Keith McCormick referenced many times on this site. I’ll get the book. Thank you for mentioning the ‘twelve month commitment’ issue. I just don’t think I can afford the Lucas program. I also don’t appreciate that little bits of information come with a price at every turn. I understand making a living, but not making a killing. I’m retired and do not have limitless financial resources. Thanks again❣️
@lhankins McCormick does in-person and phone consultations for $350 (initial consultation) and $85 thereafter. Another option is a second opinion with an endo. I sued the Castle-Connelly top doc list. https://www.castleconnolly.com/topics/endocrinology-diabetes-metabolism/what-is-endocrinology-diabetes-metabolism
@windyshores
Thank you for this additional information. I am going to assume that you used, not sued the Castle-Connelly site to find a specialist😉. I see an Endocrinologist within 90 miles of me so that is doable. I will check it out stat since I convert to Medicare in a few months and fear I will have even more trouble with options. Hope I am wrong and fingers are crossed! Thank you!!
@lhankins I use a keyboard. My brain does this thing where it puts the wrong letters first. Loved the humor. Castle-Connolly is safe from litigation from me 🙂
