Tinnitus and severe vertigo

Posted by jandroid @jandroid, Jan 5, 2023

The tinnitus is making me crazy. The vertigo started last night. Has anyone experienced worsening migraines since COVID? I had mine under control by avoiding cheese and processed foods. I was positive for COVID the day after Thanksgiving. The one time I went without a mask in an Uber I got COVID.

Same symptoms with inner ear issues, vertigo and ringing. On month 8 here. They should merge this with the pflegm thread as for me it is related. Thin pflegm, drain ears move mucus things start to fall into place. Shown improvement with 64 plus oz of water daily, standard vitamins and 8-10 hours restful sleep. Mucus thinning, ears opening and tinnitus calming. That’s just me but worth a shot for those suffering. Oh, positive attitude too! Good luck!

I truly hope you continue to improve. These symptoms seems to be somewhat rarer than most long Covid symptoms. I’m sixteen months in, have been to every imaginable doctor with no improvement, in fact ears have gotten worse. After awhile anxiety and other issues arise.
Trying to keep that positive attitude you mention. It’s harder as the months roll by.

2 years and 8 months same thing after Covid twice although the tinitus I had before. After 2nd covid I developed MD--a blood cancer so have no idea if it's related to covid.

I've had migraines since 6 months after COVID. There is no pain but the visual disturbances go on for a long time and interfere with daily function. Taking Tylenol helps but it takes over two hours to calm down. The tinnitus is constant and never stops. I have trouble sleeping because of it. There is also some mild pain at times and my ears are feeling blocked and will pop a lot. I've got an appointment with a neurologist coming up.

I got covid just before the vaccine became available (Nov 2020) and there after got Tinnitis, dizziness and an inability to walk much. I have been to a dozen doctors from local to Cleveland Clinic (could never get into Mayo). My tinnitis is constant and getting louder. I would love to hear how others got it under control.

I’m sorry for your suffering with this horrible condition, as a long time victim of this I personally know what you feel. I’ve had it for years but now since covid it seems to have gotten stronger in the noises I hear. I accidentally came upon a relief from the noise, I was running the water and when I heard the sound it stopped the noise, this was a reprieve for me and sometimes it doesn’t work, I am glad I found this but the only downside is that I can’t leave the kitchen. I know it’s insane but then I read somewhere that they are doing research for tinnitus sufferers and using a type of sound therapy, who knows, if it offers you some peace even for a little while then I think it’s worth it, I hope that you find some help with this and gain back some of your strength.

I find certain types of meditation music gives me some temporary relief. Popular music that I liked in the past sounds tinny and wrong, which is upsetting.
For lack of a better description....I have felt drunk and disoriented for three years. It is very hard to function and very hard to stay positive after this much time has passed.
Good luck to all. Sometimes I think I will lose my mind if no help is found.

I am 80 and was in great health before Covid. I had it in August 2023 and again in August 2024. I suppose I had/have long Covid. I normally feel pretty good but I have absolutely no stamina. After only 5 minutes of anything that resembles work, I have to rest. I also have elevated A1C so my Dr. has just started me on Jardiance. Maybe getting my A1C under control will help my very low energy problem. I have had Tinitus as far back as I can remember, at least 40 years or so, so it is not Covid related. Over all those years it has very slowly increased in intensity so I suppose that is a good thing because I have learned to tolerate it. It started in my right ear and then after about 10 years it started in my left ear. (I know, it is not actually in the ears. It is neurological) I have tried several of the "fixes" that we see advertised to no avail. My Dr.'s have ALL told me there is no cure. I recently got hearing aids for high frequency hearing loss, which could easily be caused by the Tinitus. The audiologist tried several programs in the aids to help with the Tinitus that have helped some people but it did not help mine. She said that is all she had that could help with it. So it just continues to get very slowly stronger over the years.
