Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Mar 25, 2019

I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

In the shoe search right now. To get the width I have been looking at men's shoes. Don't care much for the style of a man's shoes on a woman's foot.

I had fusion of L2,3,4,5 but I had neuropathy before that & still have it.
The Barefoot Shoes are so unique- they help with all my symptoms.

Crocs
I have peripheral polyneuropathy in both feet.
I have a dozen shoes in my closet that I can't wear due to the pain. I wear Crocs when I have to wear shoes. I found that they allow me to be able to walk with less pain. They may be ugly but, oh well!

I have spinal stenosis with some neuropathy which caused balance problems that resulted in several falls. A little over a year ago I ran across Ortho Feet shoes online. They are an orthopedic shoe that come with arch inserts to customize for your particular situation. I now have several pairs of the shoes, and two pairs of boots. No fall problems since. You get a 60-day wear test with free return if not satisfied. I was a runner for over 50 years and did marathons, half marathons and everything in between. Just over 2 years ago, the stenosis hit. No falls since the shoes, and I do the treadmill daily along with strength and balance exercises. Still wish I could run, but I am very thankful for what I can still do, and the shoes are great. I did return a couple of pairs and got some from the company that better fit my needs. They took the shoes back, no questions asked, and the turnaround time on the replacements was only about two weeks. Very satisfied.

Tks, could U suggest the brand ? There are so many...

HIKE has the largest selection of Barefoot shoes on Amazon.
There are several other decent brands but only order from brands that can deliver in a couple of days. Otherwise, you may be waiting weeks.

For starters, you should have a test where they pin prick your feet to isolate where in the spine this issue is originating. Something like this can be so serious that paralysis can occur. I would definitely pursue medical specialist.

i’ve noticed when I suggest a test or anything having to do with my neuropathy the doctors do not like to be told about possible treatments i suggest or medication. , they only giv me gabapentin which helps mildly , I feel like they just it makes our relationship even more awkward.

I first use an ointment called “Wise Men” essential oil in a coconut oil. I order from Amazon. I use twice a day on clean feet then I apply compression socks. I only wear HOKA shoes Bondi9, and slip on shoes for around the house.. if not for my Hoka shoes I don’t think I would be able to walk.. recommended by my orthopedic doctor..

Do you have to contact Medicare to get approval for the shoes or do you just let the store know and they take care of it. Thanks in advance.

I called a couple of shoe stores and asked if they worked with Medicare -- then they take care of it once you are fitted for shoes

I would recommend trying a pair of Hokas
I have a pair for inside and outside
Very stable and supportive- Graviota or Arahi or Clifton
They will not solve your neuropathy but help significantly with overall support for your feet
