Grover disease: is a final healing possible???

Posted by italiangrover @italiangrover, 2 days ago

Hi, from Italy. I've been fighting against Grover for two and a half years: I started with cortisone pills (which works as long as you can take it); then 3 months of Dupixent, with no result; then some months with a retinoid, Acitretin, an again no result. Now again a monoclonal antibody, Adtralza injections (Tralokinumab) and after four months ...no result. Doctors who are treating me say that I have to continue for some more months because Tralokinumab works very slowly. ??? Meanwhile I get some relief only using Clobesol cream. I'd like to know if some of you had similar treatments having a complete, (complete and final!) healing. Or a complete healing with different drugs. Grazie e ciao!

I have been using Witch Hazel solution to reduce the itching, but not a cure! Others here report their satisfaction using Cilantro shakes, which may be found on earlier comments. Whether considered complete healing, I don't know.

Cilantro...cilantro...cilantro : it did nothing to me. I reduce itching and burning with Clobesol; but I (like everybody!) want a complete recovery. And that seems impossible. Anybody here got it??? And how?
Like every two weeks, since August 28, today I'll have my two injections of Adtralza (Tralokinumab), waiting, waiting...

At this point it is my understanding that there is no cure for GD. Big pharm not interested.

I'm afraid you are right: present day studies and research is far from being satisfying.

Unfortunately, there is apparently no cure. You have to treat the symptoms. Suggest you get on the Facebook forum for Grover's Disease and read Bryan Lewis' extensive research on the subject. The relief from symptoms varies with no one thing working for everyone. I got relief for 13 years taking 300 mg of Gabapentin every night and then it just quit working three years ago. Have been itching in various degrees since then. I get by using Eucerin Itch Relief after showers and taking Hydroxyzine every night to get sleep. NB UVB light treatments may have helped a little. Good luck and be careful with steroids.
