Hi Scott,
Isn't life interesting? How different we all are and yet so much alike? You weren't around young children or cousins. I was around both and neither of them liked me much nor I, them. I also got along better with animals than people. You liked snakes and I love spiders! I'm always gathering them up carefully in a tissue to put them outside on a leaf when I find them in the house. I even got my husband to stop killing them! I can't see killing anything that can make something as beautiful as a spider web!
You mentioned that the big family you married into is "hands off". That's too bad or maybe not. When my husband died only one of his three sons from a former marriage contacted me. They hadn't contacted my husband for five years prior to his death.
Yet, life goes on and we cope the best we can. I'm getting used to being alone and in some ways even enjoying being alone. You are communicating very well and interesting despite all of your physical problems. I guess we both have God to thank for our positive situations.

When I said, that the family I married into is "hands off", I meant that there isn't any physical contact beyond a handshake or quick hug. They're actually really great people. (I'm phobic about being touched anyway; got physically abused a few too many times.)
Through my in-laws, I have (I think) 26 nieces and nephews, and 24 great-nieces and -nephews. So far.
Age has taken its toll, but when I got married, I had 10 brothers- and sisters-in-law, plus their spouses. I don't think I ever did learn everybody's name, especially the tougher Polish names like Zbigniew, Genowefa, Mieczyslaw...

Remember that old song, "I Don't Like Spiders & Snakes"?
I too have always had an affinity for other living creatures and try to revere all life. I fall short, as I do eat meat. I also drive my wife nuts when I rush to save a spider or other bug as she's getting ready to squash it!

Regarding your challenging in-law monikers:
Just call them Ziggy, Genny, and Mick and be done with it. I'm sure they're used to having their names butchered.

I don't remember that song but I'm glad someone else is saving the bugs besides me! There's nothing wrong with eating meat. We need that type of protein. Plus in the Bible that is what people mostly ate because they had to wait for vegetables and fruit to come into season. God planned it that way so we'd be healthy. I've eaten meat all my life. I love a good steak! I saw my doctor last week and he says I'm so healthy that he doesn't need to see me for a year! I do have a few medical problems such as high blood pressure but that's all handled with the correct medicine.

Re camping: Why would anyone want to sleep outside if they can avoid it?
Re your Goat: Props on yer very nice ride, SusanEllen! In high school, I had a '66 Olds Starfire with a 454 in^3 big block. Took some getting used to. Hard to keep under 100 mph. NOT a city car.

My Goat and I live in the suburbs of New York City on Long Island.
We had a gorgeous beach and the drive along the shore was amazing with the convertible top down!
The picture is a spitting image of mine except for the wheels.
Hi SusanEllen,
I'm 78 and I remember 1967 Pontiac GTO's! They were beautiful cars! You were fortunate that you had one. I never had one but I dated a guy who had one. It rode very nice. They don't make cars like that anymore.
I've never been camping either. However, I grew up on 40 acres of Douglas Fir trees on a small farm in Washington State with an outside bathroom. So, it was like camping and not fun! It was beautiful country but not fun when you had to go down to the barn and turn right to go to the outside bathroom in the middle of the night! However, the dogs, ((We had 3) all went with you so at least you were protected from wild animals.
