The buzzing and side effects in your head is enough to drive one mad, from a Benzo detox
Good Luck to all

No, not at all. I did it over 2 to 2 plus years. Slowly is the key, at least for me. Some people take these medication's for many years or decades and then when they decide they want off they want off quickly. One lady here stopped another medication cold turkey after 30 years and she had a stroke.
Take care,
Jake

Go verrrrry slowly (.125 mg every couple months) and you will do fine.

I was tapered off by ¼ very two weeks. Had been on one mg for 20 years due to GAD & insomnia. Doc added abilify as I was tapering. I ultimately wound up in a full blown panic attack that lasted a couple of weeks until my primary added ½ mg klonipin back. In the meantime, I found a psychiatrist who diagnosed me with panic disorder and severe anxiety, etc., and promptly put me right back on the one mg and advised me not to take abilify, which I had already stopped when the panic became so terrible. Finally, the panic abated. It was the worst experience of my life! I was terrified of my own 5 lb pups that I had for eight years. I was so jumpy! Couldn’t sleep and I couldn’t drive. It was horrendous. This was not my first experience being messed up by a doc’s prescription, but it was certainly worse than the first time! I’ve personally found private psychiatrist to be superior to PCP’s or community MH centers.

You don’t say how long you were on this. It sounds like you went way too fast, which is why you’re having so many problems, unfortunately. 5 to 10% a month should’ve been all you were taking off of this. I was on 1mg benzo for only four months because I couldn’t get help. Finally got help. Did a water taper, from some help on a benzo website on FB. Has taken me nine months and I’ve had no problems at all. If you need help, I suggest you get on.FB on BeatingBenzos . There are so many people on there that have had problems with these benzos and can help you out a lot.

What was your initial reason for going on clonazapam? And did you do 5% or 10% taper a month? After horrible panic, I was first put on sporadic use of xanax while onboarding zoloft for a couple weeks which caused worse rebound anxiety then was switched to .25 clonazaam twice a day for two weeks and then .50mg for almost two weeks. Zoloft doesn't seem to be working. Took away my sleep and can't eat. Just began to taper clonazapam after I realized how dangerous it is. Started with 10% taper last week. How was your sleep as tapering? Were you on other meds?

I just had to comment on both these posts.
I am 74 and lead a very active life with probably too much exercise.
I recently met with my PCP to review my medications.
Once again Klonopin came up and again she said she didn’t feel any need to have me stop taking it. She had one woman who was a fairly heavy drinker that had fallen several times and she told her it would be Klonopin or alcohol and she chose alcohol.
For me I take 50mg of Sertraline/Zolft along with Buspar, Buprophion/Wellbutrin and Klonopin/ Clonazepam. I did cut back from 100mg of Sertraline/Zoloft to 50mg to help with the sexual side effects which anyone taking an SSRI can certainly identify with. I also added 5mg of Cialis daily.
I am extremely happy with my life.
Hopefully this might help someone out there.
I wish everyone on the site the best.

It has been two days with no questions regarding hearing loss.
I am amazed who ineffective we as a community are at advocating for ourselves.
Where is a requirement to have telecoil at every venue? Where is a noise restriction at every restaurant where almost invariably loud music is playing in the background.
When will start demanding these things are implemented? When is the last time you went in a restaurant that didn’t have a handicap accessible restroom.
I just returned from Europe and was appalled that the only restrooms in all the restaurants I ate at were downstairs with no elevators.
They also are ten years behind us in the effort to curb smoking which is very prevalent in Portugal and Germany.
In closing let’s start demanding some accountability for our disability. If not now when.
Hopefully people with hearing loss read this post.

Never go to cold. Turkey managed to go down to a half a milligram and I think I could have got off it completely but then I had some some issues and I went back on it. The issues were things happening in my life. I don't think you'll have any trouble. I just do it like a week at a time. Stay at Wendy's for one for a week and make sure your life is stable
