I have copd and I am looking for anyone who tried this medication DUPIXENT?

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the COPD: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Support Group.

I started Dupixent in October and have taken 6 injections so far. My breathing is better but it's my understanding it can take up to 16 weeks in your system for the maximum benefit. I'm being patient.

I also have eosinophilic esophagitis and I've seen great improvement since starting the Dupixent.

The injections can be uncomfortable but that 30 seconds is worth the benefits to me. I've had no side affects. Everyone is different and reacts differently to medications.

There has been a lot of discussion about Dupixent here. Go to the search bar at the top of the page and type in Dupixent and you'll see other discussions. Those might be of help to you.

The issue in finding data, comments etc on the use of Dupixent for COPD is scarce as it has only been approve for use with COPD patients since late summer. So when reading through the literature etc. you have to look at the information available on the use of the drug with asthma and Type II eosinophilic inflammation. I have COPD at a Stage IV and started on it on 11/23 ....it worked great until 5/24 then the effects begin to wan and I was experiencing terrible increase in congestion almost continually. The Pulmo said to stop it and see if the congestion improved, it did not. I don't know that a simple serology test to see if I had formed antibodies to it may have helped but it was not ordered. At this point, I think that yes it will help COPD patients that have type II inflammation (same as for the asthma). Basically I was a treatment failure with the Dupixent for some unknown no sought after reason. I would encourage you to try.....you lose nothing and have everything to gain. Good Luck

I’ve had 4 injections so far, taken every 2 weeks. You or someone on your behalf has to inject. You can get the epi-pen style or pre-filled syringes. I have the former while a friend prefers the syringes.

For me, it has increased my resting O2 saturation rates from 92-93 up to 95-96, which was remarkable and surprising to me.

Also, a week ago, I was exhausted and on the verge of flaring but just rested for about 24 hours, mostly in my bedroom and fully recovered without needing to reach out to my MD or any medication changes.

Dupixent My Way can give you access to a nurse who can come to your home and train you on how to inject yourself. You can pick the medication up at the specialty pharmacy, any pharmacy you specify or have it delivered to your home. It’s packaged in a small styrofoam cooler with ice packs and needs to be kept refrigerated.
