Has anyone had problems with trapped pockets of gas -painful and when you press on the area you belch within a few minutes and then it travels to mid back and you squeeze your shoulders together and you belch and then it travels to your xiphoid process and sits for a while and you try Maalox, Tums, Zantac 300 and eventually a humongous long belch and it feels like you lost 10 pounds. This process can last all day long! Told this to my doctor and he has never heard of it. This happens a couple times a year -very uncomfortable and annoying. Have not been able to pinpoint what I eat to produce this -it just happens. Is there a name for this? I used to be on PPI's for ~ 25 yrs and couldn't be without it 4 days or my insides were on fire burning pain. My mom died of breast/bone cancer and needed an antidepressant to get me thru the holidays and took Bupropion for 4 months and when I stopped taking it I realized my GERD was gone and it didn't return for 3 yrs-now its a couple times a week only and I do not take meds for it on a daily basis since I found an article connecting long term PPI usage with stomach cancer. Now I only use Zantac or Tums if needed. and of course 7up.Is there a name for this what I call gas gangrene.??

Never had a problem with gas, until this week. I wake-up with terrible pain under my right arm pit and right shoulder blade. I get better once I start moving. I guess the built up of gas is during the night. I have not changed my diet.

I don’t think it was gas but most likely physical movement after laying in one position while asleeep. No place in your upper back for gas to be.

Before Jan 1st I could eat whatever I want, then after Jan 1st I can’t seem to eat anything without an extreme amount of gas. Comically extreme. I’m not bomiting but the gas builds up so much that I’m vomiting gas. Then what follows are intense heat flushes, intense weakness (almost paralysis), confusion dizziness, I even fell over once, rapid heart rate, headache. Are these symptoms of acidosis ? Maybe a yeast infection ? Does anyone have something similar ? When I googled symptoms it came back with acidosis. I even went to the emergency room and they discharged me bc that didn’t see any blood but I swear something is very wrong with me. Is perhaps my gut microbiota metabolizing methanol causing acidosis ?

Welcome @ctarrillo, I know it has to be troubling when you are having gut wrenching symptoms and not getting any answers following your visit to the emergency room. The symptoms do sound similar to Metabolic Acidosis. While we wait for members who may also have experiences or symptoms similar to yours, here is some information that might be helpful:

Have you thought about seeking help at a teaching hospital or major health facility like Mayo Clinic?

I occasionally have gas during the day and it’s alleviated with belching. Gross, I know. But I’ve been waking up anxious with gas pain that is only alleviated by belching and these episodes can happen from 15 to two hours. Right when I want to lay down and go to sleep my stomach wakes me up with pressure and the need to belch and my mind is anxious (guesing gas pressure is hitting a nerve causing anxiety) Any help greatly appreciated, boy do I miss sleep!

Have you been to a gastroenterologist? You may need some gi testing done? Have you tried anything for this? Gas x? Etc? Maalox? Mylanta?

That can happen to me if I eat the "wrong" foods. I would suggest tracking your food choices. Some of what you eat may not digest well. The other component could be stress. Since it doesn't seem to be constant, I do not expect it is the configuration of your digestive tract.

You might want to be tested for SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth).

I am on a feeding tube into my small intestine and pump fed for 10 year's now. I get sibo regularly. But causes me pain. I have to take antibiotics regularly. But it never causes gas and belching. You should see a gastroenterologist. I have many gastric diseases and it is best to catch them quickly or things can get worse really fast. Good luck.
