Has anyone been prescribed EB-N5?

Has anyone been prescribed EB-N5? I see there was a discussion of this supplement before, but it dates back to 2018. I received a message this morning from my neurologist saying he'd like me to begin taking EB-N5. Unfortunately, he's not in the office today, so I'm not able to ask him what I might expect from EB-N5. If any of you have used this supplement, I'd love to know what results, if any, you had.

Thanks Proteusx for you suggestions. I too was recently prescribed NB-N5 by my pain doctor. But couldn't get any good answers as to the amount of research that's been done on this. They want a $150.00 for (I think) a 3 month supply. I currently take a B12 and Magnesium Glycinate, in addition to a 150mg Lyrica tablet a day. That's been keeping my PN in check fairly well, although some nights are still tough. So, I just looked up your recommendations for, as you say "B12, alpha lipoic acid, vitamin D, methylfolate and vitamin D3 individually from well known brands,..." and found that there is quite a wide variety of dosages and brands, associated with varying pricing (which altogether would actually add up to close to what EBM are asking for their NB-N5 product). Based on that I have a follow up question, if you'd be so kind. Could you recommend specific dosages of the above, so as to allow me to be more precise in my research? That would be super helpful. Thanks

The doses I use are as follows (daily): B12 500 mcg (micrograms), alpha lipoic acid 600 mg (as used in almost all studies), vitamin D3 5000 IU (but this one I use every other day), methyfolate (the preferred form of folic acid) 1000 mcg (probably safe up to 2000 mcg per day but opinions vary on this). Hope this helps. I use the powder form of alpha lipoic acid and mix it into juice. A third party tested and approved brand in the powder form is the Bulk Supplements brand (with which I have no connection, financial or otherwise).

I strongly advise anyone taking a lot of supplements regularly subscribe to a reliable, respected third party tester's data base, as a very significant number of supplements are mislabeled, contain dangerous contaminants, etc. I personally used ConsumerLab, which is the largest and most respected of these.

Is there a link to this data base?

I'm surprised that no one has posted to say they're familiar with EB-N5. That leaves me wondering if EB-N5 is a relatively new approach to helping with PN. I'll be taking the capsules at my neurologist's suggestion. The capsules are due to arrive Monday. I understand if I'm to give EB-N5 a fair shot, I'll need to take them for at least three months, but for an even fairer shot, six months. I'm not going to hope for a miracle. After all, those of us living with PN know how rare miracles are. Yet, what have I got to lose? I'll let any who are interested know how may experience with EB-N5 goes.

I would love for you to post periodically as you start this therapy. Please share. I myself have no experience with it personally.

Hello, I was prescribed EBN5 due to a vitamin D deficiency and a gene called MTHFR. I have been taking one in the morning and one at night for a couple years now. This gene causes your body to not break down vitamins the standard way you need a little extra help. This is where the methylated part of EBN5 comes in. It helps my body process the good stuff. I was wondering if anyone else had heard of this gene. My experience with EBN5 is great. I feel so much better when I take it. Just offering my standpoint and curious if anyone has had any issues.

It appears to be another manufacturer of their own proprietary blend of ingredients for neuropathy. I haven't seen any research trials on their products but some of the ingredients can be found in neuropathy research that they are helpful. Here's what EB-N5 actually contains from their website: https://ebmmedical.com/medical-foods/
EB-N5® INGREDIENTS
L-methylfolate calcium 6 mg
Methylcobalamin 4 mg
Pyridoxal 5′-phosphate 70 mg
Alpha-lipoic acid 600 mg
Cholecalciferol 5000 IU

So then begs the question - can you buy the separate ingredients cheaper yourself if you think EB-N5 might help. Just being the Devil's advocate here 🙃

I was prescribed EB-N5 by Walter Butler, DPM, Memphis, TN about 9 months ago, 1 capsule twice a day. Used to treat peripheral neuropathy in the feet. It’s a MIRACLE for me. After about 90 days I weaned myself totally off of Gabapentin. I am now able to easily cope with just occasional incidents of very mild tingling that presents late day or sometimes at night. I am aware of no side effects.

Incidentally, EBM Medical direct bills me $49.97 for 180 capsules of EB-N5 which lasts me 90 days.

Yes, I've beenon it for about a year and half now. It was prescribed by my Endocrinologist for my PN. The PN flare ups that I used to get were quite painful, severe, deblitating, and frequent (once every 4-6 weeks; over 4-5). Mainly in my feet and sometimes my hands. After taking EB-N5 about a month or so noticed the attacks weren't as severe and didn't last as long. Fast forward a a little over a year now. I may go 2-3 months and experience some minor tingling that is absolutely tolerable compared to what I was experiencing before starting on EB-N5. This is phenomenal considering that I used to take Lyrica 100mg three times a day with minimal, brief relief. I use a little cold therapy (ice pack) now to help with the minor flare ups and that gets me through with ease. I pray this is helpful and you have a great outcome as well. All the best to you!
