Anti-viral therapy

Has anyone tried anti-viral therapy for several weeks with good success just in case lingering virus particles are causing inflammation and its many issues?

My doc has me starting a 42 day regime tomorrow. I am hopeful.

What medication is he giving you?

She is prescribing Valacyclovir Hcl - there was a study of combination of valacyclovir and Celecoxib (which I already take thanks to Long Covid) that showed some improvement in symptoms.

Valaclyclovir did improve my energy and mood a little bit but it seemed to work by suppressing my already over taxed immune system. I say that because I have been susceptible to tremendously itchy skin rashes with Long COVID and had even more/different breakouts while on the antiviral. Doc finally did a punch biopsy on one to see what it was and was not caused by a virus so we stopped the antiviral on day 40.

We are now going to trial low dose Naltrezone. Had to get it from a compounding pharmacy since the dose is too low to find in a pharmacy.

Hi. I am also on low does Naltrexone. It has helped me tremendously. I was getting it through a compounding pharmacy at a cost of about $900 a year. Finally figured out how to save almost all of that money by taking LDN oral solution - 1ml = 1 mg. So my 3mg dose is taken with a 3ml oral syringe. Annual cost is about $10 (no missing zeros!). It is available in a regular pharmacy and is fully covered by my insurance. Best, wishes to you.

Hoping that you are still getting relief. =) How long have you been on it? How long before you noticed improvement? Fatigue? Dizzies? Brain fog? GI upset? Thx for any feedback. =}

Hi. Hard for me to remember the details. I have been on it for about two and half years. It took several months before I started to get any relief because I started on a very low does (0.1 mg/day) and very slowly worked up to my current dose of 3mg/day. I dont have much GI upset or dizziness, but got strong improvements in fatigue and brain fog. When I started I could not use a computer because of photophobia and headaches. The photophobia completely went away and the headaches more than 50% reduced. Best wishes to you.
