Losartan

Hi, folks. Was moved from metoprolol to Losartan this week. I would appreciate hearing about your experience with this medication. Any volunteers? Thank you.

losartan is for bp. You want to get your bp under control if you have afib because elevated bp, uncontrolled and ongoing, can cause afib.

If you eat less meat and cheese etc. you will not have to take meds.

Hi
Metropolol was banned as it made me breathlessness, couldn't exert and monitor shoed 186bpm Day and pauses at night.

I was given Losarten in 2019 before the STROKE, AF Rapid and Persistent and Thyroid Cancer. As a nurse earlier I examined my urine. Lots of protein in the sample. Apparently it is one of the side effects.

Check what the med is doing.

I understand Metropolol is a Beta Blocker.

Losarten is a ACE med. The first med I had was INHIBRACE abd I coughed and coughed. So past meds were banned like ACE but a doctor did not check.

I know atenolol was banned and I switched to metoprolol at least 4 years ago. I also take losartan for BP.

I'm on the succ. I take it twice daily. No problems at all.

I’ve been taking 25 mg metoprolol extended release along with Losartan (potassium) 25 mg (Losartan is an ARB not an ACE) for over 16 years now after I had an Afib episode in my 50s. I’m 74 now. No issues. Metoprolol can make one feel tired. In fact, that’s the reason they put me on the extended release - it doesn’t hit me as hard. I take the metoprolol in the morning and the Losartan at night.

I’ve had two Afib episodes, 11.5 years apart, both caused after very high stress incidents. It was determined after extensive testing the first time that I had a healthy heart with a slightly leaky valve. My last Afib episode was in 2017. I’ve been diagnosed with SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) and get occasional fast heartbeat runs but they don’t last more than 10 seconds or so. Seems to run in the maternal side of my family: grandmother, mother, me, brother, my son. Isn’t life threatening and my EP (cardiologist/electrophysiologist) isn’t concerned with it.
