Fibromyalgia pain: Let's connect
Is there anyone here that suffers from fibro? I had the 'tender spot test' several years ago and I had 17 out of the 18. I try my hardest to get through the pain with my 4 hydrocodone/acetaminaphine pills a day, Tiger Balm rubbed into areas that are the worst, light exercises, and distracting myself with hobbies or chores, etc; but there are many occasions where none of that helps and I spend most of the day holding down the couch, getting up about 30-45 minutes after that, walking/standing around the house for 15-20 minutes, or sitting for about 15-30 min. I do not drive and my husband works 6 days a week, overtime almost every day, so I'm alone a lot. my wonderful husband is very supportive and I am very grateful for that, but my only other friends are online, out of state, and I will probably never even get to meet them. when extreme pain takes over, my depression takes over and it is so difficult to find hope. does anyone have tips for fibro, whether diet or over-the-counter meds (I've tried them all, I think), or anything, besides hobbies and such? I've tried every over-the-counter med, and the Tiger Balm does cover some of what the pain pill doesn't help, but I'm hoping one of our members might have some knowledge that could help. I'd really appreciate it.

@lioness You are right, it is a guessing game! Tramadol does nothing for my pain sadly. I can't take any NSAIDs as I had RNY gastric bypass 11 almost 12 years ago.I hope this magnesium malete works. We just keep learning as we try, don't we?!

I am in Minnesota and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. I’m not old enough for Medicare yet, but strangely enough I just got approval for my medication through a letter from my insurance company today that I think is set up like @leftysan’s reply. My husband is going to check with the pharmacy on Monday about what this means and I am going to try and find time at work to sort it out with the insurance company and health care clinic (I live in a small town and have limited choices except when I travel to Mayo for speciality care a few times each year). It certainly seems like we all have many challenges on this journey and I have very little energy to manage everything. It’s so good to have people to talk with and people who understand. Thanks😍
@migizii Tramadol is now a controlled substance in most areas. As demeaning as it is to sign these agreements it is just one of the many hoops we go through due to the abuse of such substances. I know I now go back to the pain specialist every 3 months for a urine screen. Does it make me feel like a criminal? Yes it does and it is only because of the “real” criminals. I think it is called equality for all or some such garbage. Treat everyone like a criminal
Isn't that the case with so many things, not just medicine?
Those who are doing the right thing suffer because of those who don't.
I guess when you are talking about a sum total of millions of people, it is just easier to make a blanket rule, this way, no one in particular are signaled out.
I remember my beginning years as a principal, a teacher came up to me with much the same complaint, "Just because a couple of are not___ , why do we, who are doing the right thing have to suffer?" It did open my eyes and I tried to be very aware of that.
Don't get me wrong, now that I am on the other side, I think it sucks!

I do not see anyone as taking sides. When there is a riff more rules/laws are needed to try to settle the riff.
I am only responsible for my behaviors. If I feel I am being treated as a criminal or unfairly it is my issue. Will admit it is uncomfortable for me. Is what it is. The criminals it does not affect which seems odd even though it makes sense in a perverse type of way.
My comment was more global than pain related so my physical pain is seemingly insurmountable.
Is what it is. Still working on looking for the positive aspects of negative outcomes.
@parus I would feel as you do about Tramadol It just isn't right to punish those who really need it for pain and that is just what it feels like 😢
I don’t know how much I would mind this (other than the obvious “criminal stereotype” but I know actual people who have been denied needed pain medication at our local emergency room due to these signed documents being part of their electronic records. Thats why I’ve refused to sign it, thus far.
@sandytoes. @karen00 This is the 6th day being on Magnesium Malete @Malic Acid it has worked very well for me In fact I just ordered another bottle also a bottle of MSM that helps the healing of injuries, it is derived from plants as a sulphur ,it is good for hair, nails and skin it promotes GI health .I'm reading from Nutritional healing book by Phyllis Balch her 5th edition Fome I'm adding it. F.M.had MSM in it Jen
