Fibromyalgia pain: Let's connect
Is there anyone here that suffers from fibro? I had the 'tender spot test' several years ago and I had 17 out of the 18. I try my hardest to get through the pain with my 4 hydrocodone/acetaminaphine pills a day, Tiger Balm rubbed into areas that are the worst, light exercises, and distracting myself with hobbies or chores, etc; but there are many occasions where none of that helps and I spend most of the day holding down the couch, getting up about 30-45 minutes after that, walking/standing around the house for 15-20 minutes, or sitting for about 15-30 min. I do not drive and my husband works 6 days a week, overtime almost every day, so I'm alone a lot. my wonderful husband is very supportive and I am very grateful for that, but my only other friends are online, out of state, and I will probably never even get to meet them. when extreme pain takes over, my depression takes over and it is so difficult to find hope. does anyone have tips for fibro, whether diet or over-the-counter meds (I've tried them all, I think), or anything, besides hobbies and such? I've tried every over-the-counter med, and the Tiger Balm does cover some of what the pain pill doesn't help, but I'm hoping one of our members might have some knowledge that could help. I'd really appreciate it.

@Parus great happy you could navigate to it .It will take time for your body to respond so about half way through the bottle you should see some relief.Im a big believer in the vegetarian diet and proper exercises along with protecting our bones with Vit D3, and calcium . Let me know what you think on F.M.
@basslakeview There are so many little bugs stay active n our system and rear there ugly heads ,making us sick.The Herpes virus is there from chicken pox the Epstein Barr virus if you had mononucleosis which I,ve had We just can't get rid of them guess they like our warm bodies lol
@kellye5 , I agree, we all need peace. With all that is going on in our world, it sure seems hard to come by. .
Certainly this is the time of year when we begin to think more about peace in our homes, peace in our communities , but perhaps most importantly peace in our hearts.
Maybe this won't apply to anyone on here but me. But it took a long time for me to be ready to acknowledge the presence of anxiety in myself. I don't know if it was pride, shame, or a general distaste of adding another diagnosis to my laundry list of diseases and conditions I would much rather be without.
Yesterday I realized again that my jaw was clinched, I was grinding my teeth, and the muscles in my left shoulder were twitching. My cannister of Anxiety Begone spray was out. Not a single drop left. So I whipped out my one remaining magic trick: Boundaries Body Balm. As I drove crosstown dealing with an actual crisis in real time, I explained to my passenger who insisted I pull into a drive thru poste haste, that my Social Work case at hand trumped her need for fast food any day.
I am a mandated reporter of neglect amongst other things, and had come across a situation involving a small child in great need. Multiple phone calls, treks through Smallmart with iffy phone in hand, dropped calls, and convincing a faceless social worker in another county that the reporter was indeed onto something, was the greatest blessing I have received in a very long time. All I could see was a cold, hungry child in need of hope. Before the end of the day, I believe that gift of hope was granted. At least, it is on the way.
Boundaries. It felt good yesterday to say "No, I'm not giving you what you want right now." It felt good to know I was using the principle of self care. Protecting my space, so to speak.
Sorry this is so long! I do tend to get long winded from time to time. But here's the bottom line: you do well to save space for yourself. Good on you!

@freshair I do the same also drink a tea of ginger Tumeric when my legs are on fire I put ice on them to cool the heat or cool washcloth.All the prescription drugs didn't help terrible side effects so I'm a believer in Vitamin-Minerals and herbal meds I like Fibro,-Malic for my fibromyalgia .
@freshair as I post I sit here with a ice bags on my legs as the fire is burning now I have found not only Epsom salts but apple cider vinegar with the mother helps our muscles relax as E. S. Does also.
Pain has been severe today. I checked and the barometric pressure has dropped. Does anyone else here in fibro land notice changes in their pain level when the barometer drops? This is something I have recognized for quite awhile. Also spent a lot of time on my feet at the
counter top yesterday. Also have scoliosis.
@parus Me, too! I get so achy, and painful legs. My head started pounding yesterday, and continued today. I just wanna curl up in a little ball.

@gingerw Looks that I am not alone. I am considering that it is my bedtime soon. At 6 pm nonetheless.
@parus. I most definitely notice increases in pain when weather changes. Cold and wind are hardest
@parus yes I notice when a front comes in and he barometer lowers and the dew point rises all I want to do is crawl under the covers but when I can't I take a earm shower it helps hope you feel well glad the F.M came today for you .
