PFA….when will it be available

Posted by katiekateny @katiekateny, Dec 11, 2024

I cannot have a traditional ablation. My esophagus is just too small for the temperature monitor. So, only a PFA is possible for me….but…

None of the heart specialists near me (within 200 miles) have hospitals or clinic that are authorized to use this.

Anyone have info on when this procedure will be commonly more widely available? What is the hold up?

The nearest mayo clinic to me is 340 miles. Cleveland clinic is more than 1000 miles. The closest city to me is El Paso at 110 miles. I like living where there is no rush hour, no crowds…but, this is the down side.

I'm sorry you can't get a RFA and no one can do a PFA. jeez. I had a PFA two weeks ago and so far, so good. When was the last time you checked in your area? It other groups I'm in, seems everybody is getting a PFA.

Speciality hospital in SW Texas says they will be doing PFAs within the next 4 months. So, I hope they will have some experienced EPs on staff too.

Arguably the best electrophysiologist in the USA is Dr. Andrea Natale at the Austin Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute. He travels to several hospitals in the western USA, including CA, I think may CO, not sure, but he's touted to be the Top Gun in EP outside of Dr. Pierre Jais in Bordeaux, FR. ...who trained Natale.
