Fibromyalgia pain: Let's connect

Posted by clownscrytoo @clownscrytoo, Oct 22, 2016

Is there anyone here that suffers from fibro? I had the 'tender spot test' several years ago and I had 17 out of the 18. I try my hardest to get through the pain with my 4 hydrocodone/acetaminaphine pills a day, Tiger Balm rubbed into areas that are the worst, light exercises, and distracting myself with hobbies or chores, etc; but there are many occasions where none of that helps and I spend most of the day holding down the couch, getting up about 30-45 minutes after that, walking/standing around the house for 15-20 minutes, or sitting for about 15-30 min. I do not drive and my husband works 6 days a week, overtime almost every day, so I'm alone a lot. my wonderful husband is very supportive and I am very grateful for that, but my only other friends are online, out of state, and I will probably never even get to meet them. when extreme pain takes over, my depression takes over and it is so difficult to find hope. does anyone have tips for fibro, whether diet or over-the-counter meds (I've tried them all, I think), or anything, besides hobbies and such? I've tried every over-the-counter med, and the Tiger Balm does cover some of what the pain pill doesn't help, but I'm hoping one of our members might have some knowledge that could help. I'd really appreciate it.
hugz,

Hi, everyone. This is @mamacitalucita. I do have Fibromyalgia, diagnosed since 1990. I have had severe flares for several years in a row, now. Where I live the doctors are extremely cautious of prescribing too much or the wrong kind of medicine. Extreme, chronic pain can frequently lead to depression. Until this past year I spent most of my days hugging the sofa. My life was on hold, as I put on a mask for my family. The stress of concealing the depth of my pain took its' toll. I tried to get appropriate medication from my specialist. I honestly think he believed I was exaggerating. I went to work, took care of my family, but I was hardly living. I worked because I had no choice. After I retired, it became clear to me that my doctor was giving me the very least amount of medication he could. So I started bringing a notebook with me to my appointments. I let him know exactly what Fibromyalgia was doing to my life. The activities of daily living, the responsibilities at work, the relationships of family and friends. My pain was damaging my life. Fortunately he finally comprehended my need for a change. Lyrica changed my life. I also supplement with Magnesium and Flaxseed oil capsules. I eat a very low carb diet, with an emphasis on lots of vegetables and protein. A few nuts and seeds, some strawberries and blueberries. Lots of filtered water, prayer, and mindfulness. Eliminating negativity in my life has helped tremendously. I try to give back to others what I did not have for so many years. Peace and love. @mamacitalucita

Dear Lioness, I have never heard of it. I will check it out. I forgot to add RLS to my gigantic laundry list of symptoms and conditions.! LOL. Thank you so much for the tip. I do take magnesium. To look at me, I don't think anyone would realize I have so many issues. Thankfully, I have learned how to deal with them. Most of them, anyway. Peace to you, MamacitaJane.
