Fibromyalgia pain: Let's connect
Is there anyone here that suffers from fibro? I had the 'tender spot test' several years ago and I had 17 out of the 18. I try my hardest to get through the pain with my 4 hydrocodone/acetaminaphine pills a day, Tiger Balm rubbed into areas that are the worst, light exercises, and distracting myself with hobbies or chores, etc; but there are many occasions where none of that helps and I spend most of the day holding down the couch, getting up about 30-45 minutes after that, walking/standing around the house for 15-20 minutes, or sitting for about 15-30 min. I do not drive and my husband works 6 days a week, overtime almost every day, so I'm alone a lot. my wonderful husband is very supportive and I am very grateful for that, but my only other friends are online, out of state, and I will probably never even get to meet them. when extreme pain takes over, my depression takes over and it is so difficult to find hope. does anyone have tips for fibro, whether diet or over-the-counter meds (I've tried them all, I think), or anything, besides hobbies and such? I've tried every over-the-counter med, and the Tiger Balm does cover some of what the pain pill doesn't help, but I'm hoping one of our members might have some knowledge that could help. I'd really appreciate it.

I am so excited for you! You are in very good hands. Let us know how you are doing when you can. Peace, mamacitalucita
Thank you for sharing this article. I found it quite interesting and informative. I was surprised to learn that the first prescribed drug for Fibromyalgia was Cymbalta, which came out in 2007. I have been taking that for a long time. It is good, but has its' limitations when it comes to flares. For others it might be the only drug they have to use. My pain has increased in its' severity as the years go by. So I do take others, such as Lyrica. Blessings, mamacitalucita

Welcome to Connect, @keb0504. Starting at a pain clinic is a great first step. We'll all be interested in hearing how it goes and what you learn at Mayo Clinic's AZ pain clinic. I'm tagging a few members who have been to the Mayo Clinic Pain Rehabilitation Center (PRC), like @kelseylmontague @canadagal @lynettegable, @medic7054, and @lauriedr. Thank you!
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1998. Lyrica was not covered by my insurance. About 3 months ago my new primary Dr. Recommend lyrica. I check and my insurance covers it. I also have been on cymbalta for depression and found out that it also helps with pain. Do you know the dose age for cymbalta that will help. Is more better? I have been distracted about fibromyalgia for the last 10 years do too spine surgery’s some relief. Now the body spasms are bad. After reading more about fibromyalgia I believe most my symptoms are from fibromyalgia. What is your opinion about this ?
Hello, Lioness! I have been given so much these last few weeks. I know that hard times always come. With Fibromyalgia, I could have a flare at any moment. And probably at the worst possible time. But I will not fear. Because there is always a Plan B. And if that doesn't work, there's a Plan C. I don't particularly care for surprises, but everyone has them. So I tell my Janie brain to just breathe. This is not my first rodeo. Blessings, Mamacita Jane.
Good afternoon to ya! I have a lot, and I do mean a LOT of conditions that seem to run along together. DDD, Spinal Stenosis, Uncontrollable Muscle Spasms, Plantars' Fasciitis, Bruised Rotator Cuffs, Gluten Sensitivity, IBS, Diverticulitis, GERD, Arthritic Joints, Autism, Depression, Anxiety, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Thyroid Surgery, Food and Environmental Allergies, Asthma, and a tendency towards OCD. Having said all that, I am grateful that supplements , good diet, exercise, gratitude, possibility thinking, mindfulness, minimalism, prayer, meditation, positive affirmations, service to others, love for God, and love for all His children more than balance out the negative. Peace and love, Mamacita Jane
