Does anyone else have chest discomfort after nebulizing?

Some days my chest hurts quite a lot after nebulizing.

I have had times like that too, where nothing comes up. I have wondered if that’s a problem, but my pulmonary doctor said that means I am doing just fine! Also, I take Mucinex to help thin the mucous, do you take that?

I don’t do musinex, i only do albuterol and sodium 3%

I suggest contacting your primary doc to discuss. He/she might want to rule out other causes.

My pulmonologist suggested using postural drainage where you put pillows under your butt and lay on the floor for 15 minutes to drain the lower lungs. Works great for me after I do my nebulizer with 7% saline and aerobica. I’m still recovering from rib fractures and intercostal muscle strain.

I can’t do that because of my GERD and reflux. I do the nebulizer and 7% saline as well.

I’m just following up-did you contact your primary doctor tell him/her about your chest pain. I think they need to hear about it and have you at least describe it and evaluate it.

Actually I haven’t. It seems to be better lately. I start with a new concierge Dr. in the first of January and will talk to her.

It’s not been suggested that I take Mucinex. Does it help?

I have COPD,Emphysema and no muc8nex does not do anything to bring up the mucus. In most cause it's not as much mucus as you think that you have it's just the constricted air valves making you think it's actually mucus needing to be excreted

I need the postural drainage to get anything up, but it activates GERD. So I’ve been doing a modified version of the postures with percussion….lay on my back, side, and front but without elevation (flat). So far it’s working well and doesn’t activate GERD nearly as much.
