Fibromyalgia pain: Let's connect
Is there anyone here that suffers from fibro? I had the 'tender spot test' several years ago and I had 17 out of the 18. I try my hardest to get through the pain with my 4 hydrocodone/acetaminaphine pills a day, Tiger Balm rubbed into areas that are the worst, light exercises, and distracting myself with hobbies or chores, etc; but there are many occasions where none of that helps and I spend most of the day holding down the couch, getting up about 30-45 minutes after that, walking/standing around the house for 15-20 minutes, or sitting for about 15-30 min. I do not drive and my husband works 6 days a week, overtime almost every day, so I'm alone a lot. my wonderful husband is very supportive and I am very grateful for that, but my only other friends are online, out of state, and I will probably never even get to meet them. when extreme pain takes over, my depression takes over and it is so difficult to find hope. does anyone have tips for fibro, whether diet or over-the-counter meds (I've tried them all, I think), or anything, besides hobbies and such? I've tried every over-the-counter med, and the Tiger Balm does cover some of what the pain pill doesn't help, but I'm hoping one of our members might have some knowledge that could help. I'd really appreciate it.
hugz,

If it helps, why not try? It beats living in pain. I think we need to weigh our options. Hmmm pain vs. no pain. Its a no brainer for me. I can put away a little each month for proven methods that work. Other than drugs at all times. A combination is the key!
Sad! Sounds like you a new doctor! She sounds rather closed minded. Yes, my Doc said I qualify as well and was happy to help me acquire. such red tape though!
Hope that it brings you the relief you are looking for! Best wishes for you! I know all about your trip and recovery. God's speed!
Well, so much for anything stronger than OTC's. Guess I need to find the stalwart side of me. Get more exercise to strengthen my muscles. Guess I did not look or sound pathetic enough. It matters not. Rather bummed, but it is what it is.
@parus, Does this post mean you attempted to get a script from a doc for something a little stronger than OTC? And with all you have going on physically, they would not even give you something low dose or non-narcotic?
O-susie-q what is it?I do alot of alternatives
Parus I'm bummed today ,fatigue and burning pain in thighs don't go together to well
I am sorry for your pain today @lioness! I know that doesn't do a lot for the pain, but know I will say a prayer for relief and you are not alone. Take as much care as you are able, Gary
@gman007 None of the others have helped such as Gabapentin, Tramadol, antidepressants such as Cymbalta, Savella, Effexor and the list goes on. I was told to get out and walk to build muscle to help with my pain. I said nothing. Took the numbing agent shots which will help for about 3 days. Just say thanks and go back in 3 months for shots again. An insurance thing. Also told to continue seeing the therapist who has already said there is nothing more she knows to do. PT will not be covered by insurance. So yes, I am bummed. Not wallowing in self pity either. My pain is medical and x-rays show thus...I do not have a history of drug abuse nor psychosomatic pain. He suggested I take nauproxen with acetometophen. I don't think this would be healthy for my liver/kidneys. I have done so as recommended at last visit. No need trying to reason with a doctor. Insurance also has me restricted as to what docs I can see. Most are fearful of prescribing. Is what it is...
@lioness No this is not a good combo. I am having a lot of pain in my ribs as well as tingling all over. Hope things improve for both of us and others as well.
