Has anyone used the Marodyne device to stimulate bone growth?

You stand on it twice a day for 10 minutes. It gently vibrates and also helps with improving balance. The Marodyne is made in Germany and costs about $3,000. It has not been FDA approved but there are studies in progress.

Thank you for your comments about the Marodyne use. I am new to this procedure but wondering what the other 'elements in your regime' include. I take Garden of Life Grow Bone supplements and have had success and improvement with that but I am anxious to really get out of osteoporosis since I fractured my hip 3 months ago. Do you also do weight bearing or resistance exercises?

Carrie,
You're welcome. We do a modified LiftMor exercise routine using our Tonal strength training machine. We aren't using the heavy weights suggested by the LiftMor research, though, we are doing three sets of ten repetitions.

I take many supplements (mostly vitamins and minerals but also alpha lipoic acid), take Raloxifene to reduce my breast cancer risk which has a modest bone benefit, do strength training 2-3x/week, walk briskly on a treadmill for half an hour most days, stand on the Marodyne for 10 minutes twice a day, don't take calcium supplements when I eat foods high in oxalates, eat 60 g of prunes per day, do balance exercises, and I give myself daily Jin Shin Jyutsu self-help to support bone health. Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient healing art similar to acupuncture using gentle touch instead of needles. I also consult with Dr. McCormick about my bone markers, DEXAs, etc. I may have forgotten some things but obviously vibration is just one component.

In one year, I improved my spine DEXA from -2.7 to -2.2 measured on the same DEXA machine.

I hope this helps!

Hey Lisa,
I just re-read the section in Great Bones. Dr. McCormick used a prototype machine over 20 years ago and although he was compliant, using it for 20 minutes each day, it didn't improve his DEXA scores so he stopped using it.

Side note: we switched from a VibePlate to a Marodyne because the Marodyne didn't have contraindications and the VibePlate did.

Great! Thats a relief! Thanks! I called his office for an appt but the voicemail says he's retired 🙁

Also, I cant recall how long you've been using the Marodyne but your DEXA has only gone from 2.7-2.2 in a year? I wish my numbers were that low!!

What's LiftMor research?

@yogalisac Dr. McCormick closed his chiropractic business but still does bone consultations.

I've been using the Marodyne for about a year. I don't think it's the most important thing I'm doing, though, I think it's lower on the list. My husband also had significant improvement in one year, he went from severe osteoporosis to osteopenia in his spine.

Here's a link to the study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28975661/ You'll find many threads discussing this on this forum, search on Liftmor. Again, we aren't lifting the super heavy weights that were studied in the study.

Hi Carrie, best wishes in healing 🙂 And here's a great video you may like with a powerful Marodyne testinony, though she did other things too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEeNdEGjKcM

Carrie,
You're welcome on the details. Everyone is different, my highest recommendation is for people to consult with Dr. Keith McCormick to personalize their approach to bone health.

Yes, 10 minutes twice a day is the Marodyne recommendation. I play Worldle, Quordle, read books on Kindle - the time passes quickly plus I enjoy how it feels. I do it before breakfast and after lunch.

I think the problem is the very high price of Marodyne. LiV may or may not work for everyone but there are a few 500-1000 $ models out there that can be set to have the same specs as Marodyne. I personally am sceptical of their slick ads and didnt want to pay 3K to find out if true. Do some research . There is info on other wbv threads on this site. Good luck!

And your husband did the same thing as you to improve? What were his osteoporosis numbers on the Dexa initially?

Also, do you have to bend your legs a bit when using the Marodyne? And do you hold onto handles or rest your hand on the wall for balance?'

My balance isn't too bad, but just wondering!
