Levodopa, exercise, and various other treatments, addressing symptoms.
Hi @joem, I moved your question about treatment for early-onset Parkinson's disease to the forum dedicated to PD here:
- Parkinson's Disease Support Group https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/parkinsons-disease/
Joe, have you recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's?
Thank you so much Colleen for your intervention and guidance. Just yesterday a close friend was diagnosed with Parkinson’s . I recommended he reach out to this site for support and information.
Again , I thank you and will forward the “url” to him.
I wonder if your friend might appreciate these resources too:
1. Info from Mayo Clinic
https://www.mayoclinic.org/departments-centers/young-onset-parkinsons-disease-clinic/overview/ovc-20529123
2. This PBS film which features real Parkinson's patients as well as Dr. Rodolfo Savica, Mayo Clinic physician who specializes in young onset of PD.

.
I found the film awe-inspiring. Movement is key. There are several programs that others like @hopeful33250 can tell you about like Boxing with PD, Singing, Dancing and more to connect people and keep the active.
Is your friend currently active? Do you do activities together that include getting out and moving?
Hello @joem
The information that Colleen provided is great for anyone new to Parkinson's. The combination of exercise and medication is a great way to keep the disability of PD at bay. There are many great PD exercise programs. If you go to Youtube and search "exercises for PD" you will find some great programs.
Your friend's neurologist will also be able to give him a referral to a physical therapist trained in "Big and Loud" which is the gold standard for treating PD. Here is link with information about this physical therapy program.

I look forward to hearing from you or your friend. Will you post again with an update?
Will forward this to him, he walks/runs three times a week and alternates two days rides bicycle.
Joe, I do not have Parkinson's, but I recently developed internal tremors that actually woke me up at night with my entire bed vibrating. I accidentally found something in a pill for liver support that has all but stopped these internal tremors, and want to leave the ingredient in that pill that helped so much because it also says it helps with treating Parkinson's and this is all natural. It is N-Acetyl Choline (NAC). As I said, it is all natural, and is an anti-inflammatory that helps to create more dopamine in the body. I just put in search engine, "benefits of N-Acetyl Choline," and it all pops up with some great fields of research. If you have been diagnosed with early onset, this could help. Be aware, this did have a tendency to constipate so I have to take other natural products to help with that too.
Thank you!
I would say trying to digest the idea of having a debilating Diagnosis, Medications, and everything will never be the same. I am saying this from a wife and caregivers point of view.
