Specialist in New England

Looking for a recommendation for specialist in my area. I live in Maine. I noticed that Mass General in Boston has both a bronchiectasis program & MAC. If I have both which should I choose?

Well hello fellow Mainer! I see Dr. Morin there. After my recent appointment, I started airway clearance with nebulizer, levabuteral and 3% saline. He also talked about an ordering a vest if I have no progress, then I will go to Boston.

Dr. Morin is my doc as well. He ordered a nebulizer for me last Friday. Waiting to receive it. Currently taking round of doxycycline. Vest is on order.

Mainer, too. I live outside of Portland and see Dr. D'Amico at Chest Medicine Associates, who also works in the CF clinic. Availability for appointments and calls is an issue and most on-call doctors and nurses there really don't understand Bronchiectasis. When I was first diagnosed last year, but a different pulmonologist there, they did not even mention airway clearance. I found out about that on my own (and then switched doctors).

I did see someone at Mass General but with that particular doctor, it wasn't worth the trip. I use NordX lab for samples and I wish they were better; I have had more sputum samples rejected than I think would happen at a bigger lab.

Did you go to the Bronchieactasis clinic at Mass General? Are you allowed to say which doctor you saw?

Hi again. Your post from Aug 27 said you got a referral from Dr Morin to Mass General. Could you give me an update?
Did you see a pulmonologist or an infectious disease doctor? Any info would be helpful I am going to see my doctor again on Tuesday and wondered if there’s anything I should be aware of. Thank you 😊

Good morning. My appointment at Mass General Brigham Womens is not until December 23rd. I am seeing Dr. Manuela Cernadas who is board certified in pulmonary disease, internal medicine and critical care. I just don't know what to expect after reading what people experience at NJH. I feel like my appointment is a consultation and where goes from there I don't know. Where is your appointment on Tuesday? In Maine?

Yes just a follow-up with Dr. Morin. I heard that he will no longer be seeing patients in clinic starting in January, he will be hospital based only. I have no idea who will take his place or what to expect.
Looks like it took 4 months for you to get an appointment! I should have insisted on a referral at my last appointment but we were going to be starting the nebulizing so he thought it best to wait so I had more helpful information when I do get a referral. One day at a time, keep advocating for what we need. Has the nebulizing and vest helped you?
