After 2 spinal fractures, my spine doctor wants me to see an endocrinologist to treat my osteoporosis, discovered 2 months ago. I absolutely agree that people, let us say over 60, should get a DEXA scan every 2 years. I was diagnosed with Osteopenia in my 50's. No doctor told me about the importance of checking bone density throughout the years. I am in my 70's now.
As far as medication for osteoporosis, I have been scared to try any of them......which is why I didn't keep up with DEXA scans.
My recent 24 hour urine test revealed that I cannot take Tymlos. I am waiting for the endochrinogist's NA to advise me on a treatment plan.
Lord help us when we have to navigate the medical industry, doctors, and medications.

@happy2023 if you have fractures, and cannot take Tymlos or Forteo due to high urinary calcium, chances are your doctor will prescribe Evenity, based on my experience and others here on the forum. Many people have dramatic gains on Evenity and don't suffer too many or any side effects. Of course those who do have side effects also post here.
