Anyone have vertigo?

Posted by mydogsbestfriend @mydogsbestfriend, 1 day ago

7 years ago I had a bad attack of vertigo. No med problems found. This past Saturday at 5 am woke with vertigo. Went to ER at 8:40 pm, they gave me meclizine & ondansetron. Did a CT of my head & neck: negative. MD did eye stuff (?) & said he didn’t think it was a crystal in my ear. Still a bit dizzy. My annual wellness visit was Monday & all my tests were fine. Does anyone have an idea what caused the vertigo? I’m still a bit dizzy but no vertigo.

mydogsbestfriend, Here's my personal view on vertigo.

I have had vertigo about 5 times in my life...the first time was the worst. Mine is brought on by sinus infection or having had a migraine.

I immediately take the meclizine (antivert). I cannot lay down on the side of my head that has vertigo. A doctor can look at your eyes and tell which side the vertigo is on. Usually, mine is on the left....my migraine side.

Sometimes they give valium for vertigo....I know its an older drug, but, it is temporary and has helped two people I know that had it for a long time.

This may sound crazy, BUT, some people I know have vertigo with the change of seasons. My mom tended to have it in the spring.

I do believe that vertigo can be brought on by extra stress too.

I am praying for you. Vertigo is awful. God bless you my friend!

I sincerely thank you for your reply. I did mention to the ER doctor that I had just gotten over a very bad head cold with lots of nasal congestio, he said that could have caused it. Left side temple pain too, which I understood him to say could be stress ( yeah going through some stuff). Valium was suggested if it didn’t get better but after some neckizine in the ER it lessened enough to go home. I plan to keep meclizine on hand, stop worrying about stuff I have no control over, etc. luckily just had my wellness exam & all is well there. The “ eye thing”, the ER doc said my eyes weren’t reacting the way he’d expect with the ear crystal thing. If it doesn’t happen for another 7 years I’ll be grateful :).

Well I've been experiencing unbalanced walking since December of last year.
Have done 2 VNG test it's not my ears. Aka Crystal's.
They say it's vestibular Hypofunction. I know it's horrible 😞 can't go shopping because it's too much movement and lights irritating 😑 I'm ok outside walking with a staph but all they keep doing is sending me to physical therapy. Not helping 😕.
I get so jealous of people that are able to walk like I used to I was sooo active now afraid of falling. Found out I also have neuropathy in feet and legs. Heart is good for age.59 .
Just several things going on and I blame it on long covid. My blood work is coming back crazy but they are shunning it off. One dr said it's fine just don't show an oncologist 👀👀 that scared me.
Don't know what to do.
Can't work or drive or do anything with Grandbabies like I used to.

I get it. I have had a headache for 5 yrs/4 mos now every day all day and it comes with dizziness which has gotten increasingly worse since my 20 nerve blocks 6 weeks ago. I have it every day and can e do almost nothing. Stopped driving and have to depend to people to help me. Many doctors/no answers. My brother has always said it was 5G. But that's isn't going anywhere so........

I hope you find some relief. I am still feeling somewhat dizzy but can walk. Feel like I might fall over, but driving I’m ok. At this point I’m waiting to see if it gets better ( it’s only since Saturday) if not I’ll have to contact my doctor again
