Night Driving Glasses for glare

Posted by bighead @bighead, 6 days ago

I had glare before my cateract surgeries on both eyes. Surgery didn't fix the glare but due to wrinkles in both capsule I also have streaks of lights like lightning bolts off oncoming car headlights. Has anyone found anti glare nighttime driving glasses that worked after cateract surgery on the light streaks? I tried a 7 dollar pair and it only turned very bright white headlight glare into very bright yellow headlight glare.

@bighead Have you spoken to the ophthalmologist about a vitrectomy to relese the wrinkles? That is what my husband did, and his vision is still improving gradually 5 months later.
He needed a referral too a retina specialist.

I wear polarized amber (shooting) glasses in my prescription to reduce glare. It worked pretty well before surgery, an with my new Rx, continues to help after cataract surgery.

I have several pair of shooting glassed. I will try them out. Opthalmologist said next step may be a Yag Laser to improve things. I know what the procedure us you mentioned. My girlfriend had a Macular Hole and Vitrectomy was part of the process to close the hole. She's doing fine now. I will try shooting glasses.

Are you referring to the maddox rod effect? I was told that is the name for the positive dysphotopsia I experience following my cataract surgery. Basically a diagonal ray of light on either side of a light source mostly seen at night. I was told this is caused by a wrinkle in the posterior capsure and the only treatment was with yag laser. Is vitrectomy an alternative treatment?
