Fibromyalgia is kind of a catch-all for indiscriminate nerve pain. I was diagnosed 20 years ago. I didn't really "buy it." I couldn't make sense of it and why and when. After I received some other diagnoses, I could periodically make it go away. Seemed the worst when I was experiencing: menopause, inflammatory reactions, my muscles were "bound" up and I was having fatigue. I have tried everything but for me - getting rid of inflammation, which excited the nerves and caused massive fatigue, was probably the answer in my case. Solutions were: going on Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, changing my diet and adding amino acids which weren't getting digested properly (Spectracell has a GREAT test for deficiency), regularly going to an acupuncture doctor (this was the most helpful!); using yoga to stretch and deep breathe, having a nutrition analysis so I found out I was lactose/gluten intolerant and that cleared the brain fog, and gently exercising (walking) which kept circulation moving. The nerve meds NEVER helped me. l took them all. I am super sensitive to medication and I could not tolerate them. Find a GREAT deep tissue myofascial release therapist (there is a section here on MFR) and that should really put you in high gear after a few months. I found tart cherry capsules (Zazzee brand) helped me after 30 years! found it thru this group! My pain was misdiagnosed! Although I am riddled with osteo arthritis - so they mistakenly said that caused my whole body inflammation -- it turned out it was Gouty Arthritis (high uric acid levels) which caused my 30 years of whole body inflammation! It has been a life changer for me. I am back on HRT at 67, I tested for LCarnitine deficiency so I take a suppliment, take vitamin D (because we all need to at older age) and i'm feeling GREAT. So much better than the crap I was going thru 20 years ago! Its a personal journey for sure!
