10/10/24 I experienced 2 SCAD attacks due to FMD. Is anyone else familiar with this? Like any condition, it is affecting my daily activity levels, and especially my nights full of fear.

Hi @patrica58, I appreciate your writing to connect with @melanie14. I used Google Translate (https://translate.google.com/) to translate your message from Swedish to English:
"Have FMD in my carotid vessels and in the vessels of the brain, had a TIA, scad carotid vessels less, followed every 3 months by a medical doctor.
Have a lot of worry and anxiety at night because something is going to happen, hard to sleep with loud tinnitus, daily headaches, sore eyes with slightly droopy eyelids."
Patricia, have you found anything that helps reduce your worry and anxiety at night so you can sleep better?

Hi, sorry, I didn't mean to write in Swedish 🙃
The anxiety cannot be removed, the threat is there all the time. I have soft music to muffle the sound I hear in my head and my tinnitus but don't want to take any medicine because it affects my liver negatively.
I am really worried about going back to work, my Dr says I do not need to be stressed. I had a heart attack on January 23 due to the stress of my father passing. SCAD & FMD is my diagnosis. I have thought about filing for disability but not sure that is something I want to do right now, I am just 47 with no other medical issues.

Hi, @tonyakimb. Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I'm truly sorry to hear about the passing of your father and your heart attack due to the stress. My father died in 2022, and I can relate to feeling stressed around that time. I also felt like I was going around in a fog for about 8 weeks.
Glad to hear you have the diagnoses of spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) and fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) so you know what you are dealing with.
What makes you most worried about going back to work, tonyakimb?

Thank you, I will look into that support group. I work with the public so I have a very stressful job sometimes and I let things get to me, I will just have to learn how to deal with it.

I am 63 and had SCAD when I was 53 and then again at 60. It was discovered I have FMD in my coronary artery, carotid arteries and renal arteries. I’m very active and I workout about 5 days a week. Sometimes, in the morning or middle of the night, I can have pain in my neck and chest. It does subside when I take some deep breaths and try and relax. I try very hard to not let this condition keep me from enjoying life. I rely on my faith in Jesus. I find some peace in knowing He is caring for me.

I understand what you are saying about relying on Jesus, I don’t know where I’d be without him. He is the one that brought me through all of this. I have talked to my cardiologist about that same pain in my neck and sometimes it radiates down into my stomach, I think it is normal as long as it goes away. Thank you for your comment.

Hi, @melanie14 - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. The fear and effects on your daily activity you mentioned levels sound tough.
