Constant itching scalp

Posted by jeanadair123 @jeanadair123, Jul 19, 2021

Just interested if anyone has an itchy scalp? I have had 3 cancers but this is driving me crazy. Two doctors gave me shampoo but the side effects loss of hair etc put me off using them. I have been using 1 tablespoon of olive oil and tea tree and peppermint oil. Has anyone had a problem and if so what did they use? Thanks

A numbers of specialist that i have spoken to said ‘ Stay away from the Selsun products for dandruff ‘

I have a very itchy scalp which drives me crazy…but have put off adding it to my list of numerous health issues to discuss with my GP.

I’m suffering all sorts of strange and unexpected medical issues since turning 60 lol.

I might just try your olive oil and Tee Tree oil mixed with peppermint oil and leave it in.

I’m off to India at the end of the month, and as nobody knows me there i’ll be free to cover myself in this concoction!

Good evening @ozgal, and @jeanadair123 ,

My dermatologist has been with me for ten years. And the road has been challenging because of our attempts to cope with my neuropathic itch. One of the companies that has been helpful is DERMELEVE. Last year they introduced SCALP SERUM. Have you been introduced to DERMELEVE? These are OTC products that can be ordered online.

The only other product that works for me is DUPIXENT. It is an every-two-week injectable liquid. Let me know what you have found. It is great that we can help each other on Connect.

May you be free of irritation so that you can enjoy your life.

I currently use Dermaleve for itching. I tried the one for the scalp but found it made my hair sticky. I will checkout dupixent thanks

I’m wondering if it associated with nerves and anxiety?

No I don't think that it's nerves or anxiety.....if anything I'm more relaxed than I once was since retiring from quite a stressful job.

Interesting. I use the essential oils and that’s what they recommended. I wonder why they advised not to use it on the scalp?

From memory, it was the potency of the chemicals used outweigh the fact of the itch.
