Vaginal atrophy
TO THE LADIES ONLY: As I got older I started developing vaginal atrophy. Then I started developing open splits on my labia that were extremely painful. I went to urgent care one weekend and was prescribed vaginal estrogen medicine. It did the trick but I didn’t want to use estrogen. I went to a GYN that recommending organic coconut oil to use externally only. This was a few years ago and it has worked perfectly. I have never had another problem. At all. I wanted to pass along a natural inexpensive solution to vaginal atrophy.

Thanks so much for such helpful information!
Is your estrogen cream OTC? What is the source for your D-mannose? Thanks for sharing, if you are comfortable with that.
What wonderful info. Thank you.
I’m just curious about the virgin coconut oil, is it only applied to the external area? I can see it being helpful for this purpose but do you use something else for the internal areas because the problem with vaginal atrophy is extreme inner dryness.
I’m sorry I just realized that you mentioned using it for external areas only, aside from that, are there other natural products for internal areas, nothing containing estrogen would be good to use.
I only apply it externally. I am not sexually active so I don’t know about internal application and whether that’s ok. You would have to ask your doctor, externally it was a miracle for me. Years later I have no pain at all on the labia.
It may be fine internally, too, I just haven’t needed it internally. Ask your doctor. I hope it works for you internally as well.
Thank you for your helpful advice, I did a little research and it seems that there was some risk for bacterial growth or infection, I’m not active either but the muscles internally offer pelvic support and I suffer from pelvic spasms, medically referred to as Levitor ani syndrome, a truly horrible condition that causes me tremendous discomfort.
Would pelvic floor exercises help that?
Absolutely but I have two herniated discs and that limits my movements, it’s just frustrating.
