it is my brilliant idea that at 76 y o i have always needed hormone replacement to keep my bones healthy i eat yogurt and cheese pretty much daily. personally i'd choose bioidenticals over synthetic hormones. they are expensive and made at a compound pharmacy. so with the recent needing a walker to move around i am taking estriol. my primary care dr has given me a script. i hope we all find a conclusive way to treat our mobility in our old age.

Keep us posted on your progress. Very interested in HRT vs the osteoporosis drugs available.

@tilou I did Tymlos after fracturing my spine (3 traumatic fractures 2006, 3-4 non-traumatic i.e. osteoporotic fractures 2021) and had dramatic gains. I went from severe to borderline, -3.7 to 0-2.5 in spine and excellent gains in hip as well. I have trouble tolerating meds (I tried for 15 years) but starting at a lower dose with Tymlos and ramping up let my body adjust and I could tolerate an effective dose after a few weeks. You may not need to do that. Most start with full dose and do fine. I miss my Tymlos! I felt protected....

Does Anyone has used AlgeaCal for their osteoporosis and have good result with it? Some reviews are so good that they are almost credible.

What does that mean that I have osteopenia and degenerative changes.
L 1, L3 and L5 compression fractures are chronic??? Does it mean I cant take care of them?

Compression fractures change the structure of the spine, so that vertebrae that had a parallel symmetric structure become wedge-shaped, and that doesn't improve or go back to what it was. So they are "chronic." The spinal vertebrae stabilize but don't "heal" the way, say, a broken arm might. Unfortunately!

@tilou do you have osteopenia or osteoporosis?

Most of us seem to have some degenerative changes on imaging- comes with age!

Just wanted to mention that most estradiol patches purchased from conventional pharmacies are also bioidentical. Alora, Climara, Esclim, Estraderm, Vivelle, Vivelle-Dot, Minivelle, and Menostar, Mylan are all bioidentical. It's a much less expensive option than compounded HRT.
