ALS misdiagnosed?
I have been diagnosed with ALS but recently after talks with my neurosurgeon may have been misdiagnosed. He said my corpectomy that I had done on my c 5 and 6 was not successful and not done correctly two years ago and needs to be corrected, I have severe stenosis, myelopathy and very bad nerve impingement in my cervical and lumbar spine. I do not have any signs of ALS except severe weakness in my arms and now legs. The ALS diagnosis was made solely on the EMG readout by a neurologist.
Any insight on this would be appreciated!

I was originally diagnosed with neuropathy and two years later changed to ALS. In a wheelchair, because I can't walk, however upper body fine. Diagnosed last October and so far no changes. Any other thoughts appreciated. Thanks, Rich
And of course the Dr didn't think past the EMG or have a differential diagnoses prepared. Did he even look at your past history of the surgery? Perhaps he could have saved you alot of worry and grief. Always best! Seek 2 opinions and go the larger medical facilities for evaluation/treatment.
