I went to the Good Feet Store a couple of years ago. I was not that impressed. Young girl with no credentials was trying to help me. They supposedly prepare shoes tailored especially for you. However, when they were measuring me, the girl went into the back room and came out with stock orthotics and put them in their shoes and told me to walk. Not very comfortable. I was not going to pay $3000+ for a pair of sneakers.
Hello I answer to PJ. I’ve had chronic pain since age 19 now 61. I’ve tried nearly every arthritis drug available. Diagnosed with RA 1982. Severe spinal problems (spondylosis sciatica bulging disc and RA) I’m taking Rinvoq and meloxicam. I manage pain with exercise swimming and medical marijuana.
I keep reading that a new nearly non addictive pain med is just around the corner, but just like the news on a breast cancer cure, which we are told that it is just over the horizon and years later, there is just silence on both matters. One reason, I believe is that researchers follow the money and not the science.
Hello, fellow commenters. I have been a frequent visitor and commenter on this site. I am going for a trial of a spinal cord stimulator this morning. I have had so many tests, meds, procedures, surgeries, they begin to all run together. My chronic pain really began to ramp up about six to seven months ago for no known reason. My implanted pain pump has done nothing to ease my pain. I had a SCS put in back in 2018. It worked fairly well for about three years until it just stopped. The rep did some tests and decided that one of two things had likely happened. The paddle had shorted out and/or the paddle had moved out of the "sweet spot".
Back in may of this year I had all the old SCS hardware removed. Now I am ready fo the trial of a new and more advanced SCS. I have been lifting this procedure up in prayer for quite a while(along with my wife). My 77 year-old body would really like to have my daily pain level of 7-9 to come down to a more tolerable level. It doesn't have to be total pain relief, just less enough to allow me to be able to walk around our development with my wife; ride my bike again, and work in my shop. I will try to let you know how this procedure goes. Enough said. You all have a blessed day!
I hope this goes well for you. I too have chronic pain at unbearable levels now, I can no longer sleep on my back, or either side of my hips. I have had pain since childbirth which is now 38 years. I am now 70 years old. For the last 3 years my pain has been increasing due to my stoop, because of my Osteoporosis. See my pain specialist again on Tuesday, for hopefully more treatment, on Morphine and opiate patches and still in pain. Only getting a few hours sleep per night, it is so difficult to explain to my partner the level of pain I am in. My pain is in my very lower spine with sciatica.
Hi Does any body have SI Joint dysfunction of this site. I would love to hear how they cope with their pain and sitting which is very difficult. I have Morphine liquid, Opiate patches and Pregabalin, Deluxatine, and use a Tens machine daily. Sleeping has become a nightmare, as I am in that much pain when I lie down, I cannot get comfortable, so I add in Deep heat which is a roll on pain relief for sore muscles and use ice on my back so I can drop off to sleep, and don't disturb my partner all the time. I have had pain for 38 years now, and the last 3 years pain has gone up 10 fold, mainly as I am now stooped due to 3 spinal fractures because of Osteoporosis. Thanks Shirley
Increasing pain as we age is no fun! I have had some physical therapy for
pain in my shoulders. It helps. Maybe you should try that. At almost 74...
I have a spinal cord implant. Boston Scientific. I love it. Unfortunately, i also needed to change my diet to help my body. My suggestion is stop all refined sugar. Fruits are ok but anything with cane (white) sugar stop putting it in your body; No red meat. Fish or poultry; limit alcohol or completely stop it; exercise..just move. Sugar causes so much damage to your body. I have CRPS and arthritis. Changing my diet made a huge change. Some folks don’t like hearing this because they don’t want to give up sweets. For me, it was a no brainer. Try it for 6 weeks. See if it doesn’t make a difference. I started it last November and am amazed.
I am sorry that you have had to endure this pain for so long. Finding the sourse of chronic pain can be a real challenge. Mainly due to the fact that most doctors either don't have the time to really dive into your problem, or they just don't care that much. I just had my SCS trial yesterday. As my luck goes, the doc couldn't get one of the two paddles inserted along my spine due to scar tissue from a previous surgery. So, only one paddle. The rep tried to get good coverage on my right leg, but I don't think she was able to achieve that. Today I don't feel much different. Same old pain. I was hoping that taking my meds this am would achieve some relief, but I don't think it has happened. As the old saying goes, "If it wern't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck".
Thanks for responding. I hope you are able to find something that haelps.
Well, as promised I am here to report on the success of my spinal cord stimulator trial yesterday. One day after my procedure I don't really feel any different. The doc could not get both paddles placed along my spinal cord due to scar tissue from a previous sugery. So, only one paddle. The rep tried to give as much coverage with one paddle but it was not very successful. Same old pain today for the most part, even with my morning meds. We will try some other programs, but I am not holding out much hope at this point in time. Not sure what other options I have at this point in time. Oh, well. I guess this is my lot. Blessings to all of you out there with chronic pain.
