Covid and Flu jabs all done
I decided to have both jabs together and so glad I did. The nurse was about to tick the younger person box and was very complimentary when I gave my date of birth. So that was nice. My weaker left shoulder started hurting within an hour. Here we go I thought. Once home I did lots of windmill actions and some shoulder exercises with 1 kilo weights and that sorted the shoulder. I had an extra half mg of Pred ready for the morning just in case. The usual horrible side effects started around midnight but they only lasted about 8 hours. Luckily the flu side arm is fine so I can lie on it. Hopefully I can get back to the gym tomorrow. My Dobermann has been lying on the bed keeping me company and taking most of the bed of course. But she has gone off to her own bed now so she must know I am feeling better.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have a doctor appointment on Wednesday and I know they’ll ask me about getting those vaccinations. I’m inclined to get them and get it over with.
Don’t think I will ever take another jab as the shingles vaccine gave me PMR.
I did do some tiny tweaks to my diet a few weeks before hand to give my immune system a stronger chance of coping so PMR stayed quiet. I had 2 oranges a day instead of 1. Added Naturya Superfood breakfast boost to my breakfast. Chances are I would have been fine without all that but certainly did not hurt. Must admit this years does seem to be making a lot of people poorly but it only lasts for a day or less. My weaker shoulder still feels very weak but off to the gym to sort that out later. My extra half pred is back in its box. Sending you positive thoughts.
One year anniversary of PMR, now at 2.5 @ 0.5 per month, and taking 2000mg of Tart Cherry capsules.
I got a Covid vax yesterday (the Novavax flavor), and aside from a little arm irritation and flushing initially, I have had absolutely zero side effects since.
When did you start to reduce by 0.5? I realise things can start playing up at around 5mg so might consider starting reducing by 0.5 instead of 1 mg then or is that too soon. So glad the end is in sight for you.
I am really hesitant to get the flu and Covid vaxs (not together). A year ago I had both and 3 weeks later developed PMR.
There is supposedly no correlation, but I'm afraid I'll have a flare. Currently tapering Prednisone 0.5mg every 2 weeks - at 4mg from 20! I need to have cataract surgery so I don't want to increase meds if I have a flare.
I'm sure having the flu or Covid would be worse, and my PCP says to go ahead, but I am torn.
Any advice?
I have always had the vaccines every year. I am always doing some fitness challenge and loving it. I noticed a couple of years ago I was struggling now and then but just thought I was over doing it as normal. In the Spring of this year I was doing a massive challenge and had even reached 10th in the world and it all stopped over night or so it seemed. I struggled to continue but had to stop in the end of course. So I could say pushing myself had caused the PMR but in reality the PMR had just been waiting and looking for an excuse and it found one. Always eaten healthy. Don’t smoke, drink, eat any processed food and defo never junk food but I do have Scandinavian grandparents so that is my link. PMR would have found a way to show its self at some point. Back to pushing myself physically nearly every day because that is what I do. Fallen over twice since being diagnosed and waited for a flare up but nothing. Small flare up after getting anxious and upset so I have learnt to just roll my eyes and walk away. If you are the right candidate for PMR then it will find you.
I agree that I was the right candidate for PMR too. I've always gotten vaccines, but this year, I am scared of getting a flare when I'm so close to ending my run of Prednisone.
My diet is great, I exercise, get plenty of sleep, and am in generally good health. I'll blame my Norwegian ancestors for my PMR!
Okay if and that is a big if you get a flare up you could pop an extra 1mg for a week or so and get it back in its box. My left shoulder will probably always be weaker so the needle itself was enough to wake that up. The next night I thought the other shoulder was aching but I still managed an hour on a Stairmaster which meant legs were jelly but shoulders felt better. I do understand why you are hesitant though.
10 to 5 at 1 per month
Below 5 at 0.5 per month.
Still takes about a week to “adjust” to the drop of 0.5. Hopefully that indicates that the adrenals are recognizing the drop and increasing cortisol. Best to you.
