Airway clearance after abdominal surgery

First of all, thank you for all the ports and information in this group. I've been loitering for several months and have really gained valuable information.
I had my gallbladder removed earlier this week and am on ordered to not use vest for several weeks. My pulmonary Dr hasn't returned calls on what I should do in the interim for airway clearance. Ive used nebulizer and had a couple coughs, which are painful at surgery site. I'm worried about getting a lung infection and worried about blowing out my incisions due to coughing. What have others done for airway clearance after a surgery?

How about call the surgeon's office and ask. One of them, surgeon or pulmonologist, might want to put you on antibiotics to lessen the mucus load and help prevent you from getting a respiratory infection.

I finally got ahold of Dr office and they recommended I get an Acapella device to use in the interim.

An alternative that some people like better than acapella is the aerobika, available without prescription. https://www.saveritemedical.com/products/aerobika-opep-oscillating-positive-expiratory-pressure-therapy-system?_pos=1&_psq=aerob&_ss=e&_v=1.0
