Echolight sonogram scan for bones
Has anyone heard of, or had an Echolight sonogram scan instead of a radiation DEXA scan? New FDA approved that has been used in Europe for awhile. https://www.echolightmedical.com/en/company/

That’s great. What age did you start HRT?
How long was this after her DEXA scan? Maybe her numbers would be different if she also got a DEXA scan. I have been told there can be discrepancies even from one DEXA machine to another, so I can imagine changing from two different measuring systems could cause a variance? If it has been awhile since her last DEXA I would advise her to get that repeated and see what the change is from her last DEXA . That might give a totally different number than what she received from the Echolight. Just a thought.
I’m glad I read your comment! I just started fosomax in February and over the 7 months I have taken it I felt progressively worse with rapid heart rate. My doctor said bisphosphonates can upset your electrolytes and I am apparently susceptible. I am going to go back on estradiol as I am barely osteoporotic in the hip only and these drugs are so powerful they just are too upsetting to live with a racing heart!
I told her that too…her dexa was a year ago. I hope she isn’t as bad as the echo lite reported. She is an attorney and very smart…did all the research and feels the echo lite is more accurate. Thank you for your input.
Don’t do Prolia! My doctor wanted me to do prolia 20 years ago. If I would’ve gone on that drug I don’t know what stats my bones would. I opted for hormone replacement therapy using the bio identical hormone creams and now I am doing the pellets. Do as much research as you can. You must be your own advocate.
Have you merely maintained bone density or have you gained bone on BHRT?? I am very interested in BHRT as option to Osteo meds. But I am at -3.3 avg in spine.
My spine at one time was 2.5. And hip 2.8…my recent echo lite was -1.2 for spine and -2.0 for hip. I was really surprised that my spine has gotten so much better. I’m sure the bioidentical hormones had something to do with it. I also increased exercise and vitamins. It is so hard! My endocrinologist is against torment therapy. She just wants to give medicine and I am not taking it. I told her I’m taking a chance with this. Hoping this helps.
Hello- I had my DEXA with TBS Friday at my doctor and today Echolight at osteostrong.
DEXA Results: My TBS spine result was 1.383 normal architecture. Spine TScore: -2.3; when adjusted for TBS: -1.9; Femoral Neck: -3.2; when adjusted for TBS: -3.0; Total Hip: -1.7 and when adjusted for TBS: -1.5
Echolight: spine: -1.4; Femoral Neck: -1.9
Interesting differences;
I took Fosomax for about 3 months in early 2023; since Oct 2023, I take Evista (raloxifene). Is anyone else on Evista? If so, did you gain weight? I will be 62 next month.
@nme1985…How long have you been on BHRT? And how long since menopause? I’m 72 and had a complete hysterectomy at 38. I began BHRT when I finished my 2-year protocol with Tymlos in June of this year and am praying that my bone gains from Tymlos have held stable. I’m only beginning my 4th month of BHRT and my new integrative doc believes I can wait to see how BHRT is affecting my bones before beginning Evenity. However, my rheumatologist is adamant about this drug holiday I’m on and wants me to start Evenity immediately. Though my numbers are pretty bad, I’ve never fractured which is a blessing. I really would rather not go on another drug for osteo, but if my numbers are falling on BHRT, I may have to. My last DEXA which was a month after completing Tymlos, still showed gains. So many decisions for all of us. Rose 🌹
Hello!
I feel for you! All the regular doctors don't believe in bio identical hormones. Not fda approved so no $$$. I am so disappointed in the medical community and I have two Drs in my family! I was on bio hormone creams estrodial, progesterone and testosterone since I was 47! I am now 68…no side effects. I started on pellet testosterone and estradiol and prog pill 100mg in Jan. My integrative med Dr assured me he could get me out of osteo in a year. So against my endos advise….she wanted me on forteo and I refused. I once took actonel for a month and fainted twice. I am done unless my bones crumble. I just had an echo lite bone scan which is a new technology… no radiation. I was shocked at the results. No osteo in my spine and hip -2.0! My dexa last Feb showed spine -1.9 and hip -2.9. So who knows?. My son-in-law is a spine surgeon and researched the efficacy of the osteo lite scan and feels it is accurate. This is my story so far. I take ostinol 450 for the last 8 months. Go on their website. Very interesting supplement. My integrative medical doctor is Dr Anthony Bazzan in Villavova. His website is quite interesting. I wish you well. It is such a difficult decision. Keep in touch. I learn so much from lovely people on this site. Nina 😍
