Meld scores and recurring HE episodes

Husband has been in and out of the VA hospital in Minneapolis at least 4x in the last 3 months for hepatic encephalopathy. They told us that his meld score isn’t high enough to be put on the list.

Is the VA the place who is going yo fo the transplant. Do you know what the MELD score is? They can use additional factors at times to add points so to speak to the MELD.
