Hi
I would like to know what supplement she suggested for your cortisol
I have taken different ones but still had adrenal rushes every 2 hrs
It’s really recking my health
I have sleep apnea and use a cpac ma chine thinking my oxygen levels drop when I fall asleep and that causes an adrenal rush
I still have them but not as intense
I can’t seem to get much relief
Any info would be appreciated
Thanks
Hi Timhamer
I am still having the adrenal rushes
Trying a cpac machine as I was told I have sleep apnea
My oxygen levels drop when I fall asleep
So far it’s not working
This has really ruined my life as I would just wish I could just fall asleep and get some rest without an adrenal rush that is terrible
Any info on supplements or anything would be appreciated
Thanks
Sorry I don’t have any answers. I still have the rushes too. If anything really works for me, I will post. It is a miserable condition.
I see a couple doctors who try to help me, but so far no treatment has made a real difference.
Good luck everyone.
Are you monitored for apnea? Do you see your daily reports? When was the last polysomnography? If you've never had an overnight sleep lab, you need one!!
I have sleep apnea and also anxiety. I would often awaken jolted out of sleep having troubles and noted CPAP would say oxygen levels had dropped. When I was in the hospital for spinal surgery it was noted in my chart that my oxygen dropped. I now have an oxygen concentrator I use at home when I sleep. It helped me a great deal.
Avis, I wrote right here to Mayo several months ago, on this very same problem. I’ve been working with my pulmonologist since 2014, YES 10 years now. I too just stop breathing after 2-3 hours of sleep, and with a horrific jolt, awake with adrenaline spanking my heart like I’m running the 100 yard dash. Now my problem my doc says, is something not functioning in my muscles that automatically make me breathe while asleep. I am taking 150 mgrms of Metropolol, a Beta-blocker at night, that somewhat minimizes the smack of adrenaline. But since I’m on Medicare primary, and BCBS as secondary insurance, my doctors aren’t interested in pursuing a real solution. I should say Medicare that isn’t going to pay for anything beyond my cpap machine. Now possibly a Bipap machine would be a real solution for you. But you’re right, that plunging oxy level is the cause. I’ve also asked for supplemental oxy but doc in my case it won’t help, that I just stop breathing. But do see if a cpap or Bipap machine will help, and a beta blocker to minimize the adrenaline shot. Respond here and hopefully you’ll find a solution that you can share. I still need a real solution. Thanks for writing! ///
Hi
Yes I am monitored for sleep apnea. My machine gives me how many apneas usually below 5 but not always
I have had overnite sleep lab also polsomnography
It shows a drop in oxygen and has been as low as 72 I think without the machine and sometimes in the eighty’s with machi
I am trying to get to see a pulmonologist but will take 6 months
Also have been waiting to see a heart specialist and so far have been waiting for months probably 6or7 months
I am totally exhausted…
Thanks for your concern…
Avis, I understand that this will be a challenge for you (probably, because you say you're exhausted) but I would ask you to do something...not for me, but for you.
In case this is novel for you, go to apneaboard.com, a site in which membership is open, but free, and in the black marquee at the top of the page, find OSCAR. That is a freeware, completely safe, used by literally millions, that you can download, register yourself in, and then extract your SIM card from the slot on the side of your machine and download all the data. This might take a few minutes if there is a substantial record to be loaded into OSCAR. From there, continue to read the instructions provided by the authors of OSCAR about how to configure it for best results. Then, look at your 'events' record and learn what kind they are, and how frequently they come, but also how long they last. It is those events lasting at least 10 seconds that your machine will note, and OSCAR dutifully list in turn.
What I am concerned about is that you may actually have, or have developed over time (often this happens as a result of PAP treatment...if you can believe it!) either complex apnea or 'central' apnea, either one. These need a special regimen that often cannot be provided by a simple PAP or BiPAP machine. You might need an ASV (adaptive servo-ventilator). No matter which type of apnea you have, or if you have UARS (upper airway resistance syndrome) you can have many hypoxic events each night, some of them lasting 20-40 seconds, in which case it's no wonder your SPO2 levels show serious drops. Those are very hard on your heart, but they also arouse you each time you gasp and start breathing again. These arousals disrupt good sleep quality. In turn, you will absolutely be exhausted with brain fog, cognitive and memory impairment, be error-prone and even get involved in serious accidents.
PS - If you elect to do this, be sure to remember to install your SIM into the PAP machine when you're done.
Hi back
I wouldn’t have the least idea how to download or do any of this unfortunately although I wish I could..
I just know that my cpac machine is not helping that much and I wake up feeling awful hardly unable to move..
Cannot find anyone to help me..as I said before have been waiting for months to see a heart specialist
Thank you so much for trying to help me
