Tikosyn and side effects

Posted by bobcat763g @bobcat763g, Sep 17 2:37pm

Hello,
I am 59 yrs old and have been on tikosyn since July 1st.
Since that time I have had quite a bit of fatige and general body aches.
I am on 500 mg 2 times a day.
I went in on 7/1/24 for the dosing and an hr after my rate went from 126 to 38 with a 14 second pause...they put in a dual lead pacemaker at that time.
Just wondering if anyone else has had symptoms like mine?
Thanks

Though this medication often gives great benefits to people with irregular heartbeat, it may rarely cause a serious new irregular heartbeat. When starting, restarting, or increasing your dose with this drug, your doctor will recommend that you stay in the hospital for at least 3 days for proper monitoring.”

I have been on tikosyn 250 mg. since September 2023. I am 80 years old and was in persistent Afib for six months with no relief from rate medications, which caused a great deal of fatigue. I have now been in sinus rhythm with no issues for a year and am hoping medication continues to work. I did have headaches for a short time after starting tikosyn but those didn't last long. I hope you find the solution to your side effects or a solution to your Afib. It's not fun.

I did not have afib...I had aflutter.
I hope something can be done for the fatige...maybe lower the dose of the drug...will find out a week from today when I see the heart rythem specialist.

I have not experienced that at all. Low heart rate but never a pause. Good luck and hope they get it stabilized.

side effects as listed in google - Blurred vision.
chest pain or discomfort. confusion. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position. slow or irregular heartbeat. sweating. unusual tiredness or weakness.

These side effects would not be listed if lots did not have them. Why I take no drugs.
