Just dagnosed with low free testosterone and normal total cholesterol.
Was just diagnosed via blood test of low free testosterone, 2.2 pg/mL, but total testosterone was 339 ng/mL. I am 79 years old, in good shape, exercise frequently, both aerobically and anaerobically(weights) and try to eat correctly. Do not smoke and, drink alcohol lightly. Requested this test of my doctor after I have begin feeling tired in the past 6 months to year and my libido has waned fairly dramatically. I'm am still able to get an erection most of the time and an even firmer one using taladafil. I have also noticed that my semen volume has decreased dramatically. I'm wondering if it's just my age begin to catch up or if something else is going on as it seems to have had a fairly quickly onset. Wondering if testosterone therapy would be good and if anyone else is experienced these symptoms when otherwise healthy

I am 76 and have similar problems. My libido has also decreased dramatically over the past two-three years. Not only do I have trouble with erections, I have almost no libido. Even when I was able to firm up, either very little to no semen produced. At least none that came out. I had a vasectomy almost fifty years ago. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but i would certainly like to be able to "perform" my manly duties. Not sure if there are any treatment options. I am in severe, intractable pain, so exercising is not possible. Probably no "magic bean" that can help but, who knows. Let's see if anyone helps us out. Good luck!
heisenberg34 thanks for your input. I, too, had a vasectomy 47 yrs ago, but to my knowledge and observation it has had no effect on my libido or performance since until I started experiencing a downturn in libido and reduced ejaculate as well as diminished sensitivity in the past 6 months to maybe one year. As an addendum, I have noticed in the last few months that my abdomen has become more distended and Bloated and I'm having more trouble with indigestion and so forth. Don't know if this in any way connects to the other problems but we will see if anyone else has any comments.
I have similar results at age 78. Spoke with my GP last week. He recommended I do nothing. Taking Testosterone supplements risks raising my hemoglobin results (already 17.7) with risks of blood clots. Unlike you I am not experiencing extreme fatigue. If your hemoglobin levels are normal you might consider monitored Testosterone supplements.
Thanks 2longlife. Based on your response I checked my hemoglobin which was just checked a little over one week ago and it is in normal range so I will take this information under advisement and speak with my doc. Best of luck to you with your issues.
I don't know any connection between low-T and cholesterol, but I have a low T of 4, and it's been that low for 2 to 3 years or more. My total testosterone is mid-range and OK. I'm seeing an endocrinologist, and he is treating me with testosterone cypionate injections weekly (100 mg) so I can hopefully restore erections (rare and flaccid) and libido (some low libido feelings if I watch sex scenes on TV), both of which are nil. The Cialis and Viagra blue pill options have been unsuccessful, as well as penile injections were no good. I don't want a penile implant although I've seen a doctor about that. No miracle suggestions from her, as she is a urologist who only specializes in penile implants. I think next, I'll ask for aromatase inhibitor medication, because that aromatase enzyme in the body eats up free-T, and I need to boost my Free-T to get it into range. Then to see what happens. I know there's hope for me if I can get a doctor to take a real interest in my problem.
