Welcome, @lauriepetti8. I see from your profile bio that you recently found out that you have chronic myelogenous leukemia, also called CML, a type of cancer of the bone marrow. CML happens when something causes changes to the bone marrow cells. It's not clear what starts this process.

There was a recall of Philips Respironics ventilators, BiPAP machines, and CPAP machines announced in June 2021 because there were reports about the breakdown or suspected breakdown of the polyester-based polyurethane (PE-PUR) foam used in their machines that may have caused medical problems including cancer, pneumonia, asthma, infection, headache, cough, dyspnea (difficulty breathing), dizziness, nodules, and chest pain.

Resmed devices were not reported to have the same problem and are not linked to cancer. However, their masks were recalled due to the magnets causing issues (not cancer).

It's natural that you want to figure out why you got CML or what caused it. Sometimes the answer is never found.

Laurie, what is the next step for you? Will you be starting treatment soon?

I have used the ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP machine every night since November 2021 with absolutely no adverse effects.

I asked your question to OpenAI ChatGPT … https://openai.com/chatgpt/
which responded in the negative: it found no reports linking the ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP machine to cancer or any other serious illness.
